They basically waited till there was no other option besides getting stripped and admitting they don't want the fight. This would destroy any creditability chavez would have. Jr. even pulled off having 2 fights while Martinez was his mandatory. if he was able to do a 3rd, he would.

Now they are in the position to say even if he looses he had balls to fight him.
