Better resume posts done to death so thought I'd jump aboard. On a serious note, what Sugar Ray has the better resume?
I like Leonard's resume, but I don't quite know enough about robinsons to reply with a serious answer, seeing as it was like 50-55 years before my time. I will say that Leonard's resume is damn near impossible to beat IMHO.
Well, as Robertson spends most of his time as a set up man for the Yankees he doesn't have as much time to fight as Leonard. If you're talking about Ray Robinson, he fought lots of world champions at various weight classes, including Henry Armstrong, Kid Gavalin, Jake LaMotta, Rocky Graziano, Randy Turpin, Carmen Basilio, Joey Maxim, Fritzie Zivic, Marty Servo, Sammy Angott, to name a few. And he was like 80-0 against welterweights in his entire career. His only loss while he was a welter was a decision, later avenged, to a top middleweight contender in LaMotta. All of those who saw him fight agree he was the best fighter they ever saw. But I think Leonard is the No. 2 Welterweight of all time. So that's not too shabby.
LEONARD........... even though Robinson was before my time.. you can look at SRL's resume and wins and see it is one of the top in history... that still doesn't knock SRR's greatness or rank as the best p4p.. but i think Leonard had the best resume IMO... comparing his to Ali would be a more interesting question to me.. so many gigantic matchups and moments in those two careers.... De La Hoya's resume deserves a good shout out too... a lot of great names on GB's... maybe more than ten or 15 HOF'ers on his.. even though he lost to a good number of them.
totally disagree with the robinson post above....not one fighter on his resume equals that of duran and thomas hearns, maxim,turpin zivic, come on lol only one real hall of famer with armstrong and he was old and a natural featherweight....i think the guy above lives in the past and if your easily persuaded by other older fight fans who was the best ever then you have lost your credibilty...i for one have my own mind and views who is better...let me enlighten you......benitez the youngest fighter ever to win a world title and 3 weight champion who was 39 and 0 before he lost to leonard. hearns 5 weight champion and 32 and 0 with 30 ko's, duran 73 and 1 and 4 weight champion and considered the greatest welterweight off all time, ayub kalule 36 no defeats , hagler undeafeated for 11 years and champion for 7 years and is considered by some the greatest middleweight ever.....sorry but robinsons resume do not have the names that leonard has on his....thats a fact whether you like it or not robinson never won the lighheavy title, leonard welter,lightmiddle,middleweight,super middleweight and light heavyweight.....kind sir you want more facts :hi:
I give Leonard props for fighting Hearns the first time, and Benitez. That's really about it. No disrespect to him. He is a legend, but he fought guys at the right time of their career. He thought Hearns was done in the rematch and took a beating. He fought Hagler after he knew Hagler was about to leave the sport. Duran shocked him because Leonard took him lightly in the first fight. He was thinking Duran was just a lightweight who beat people that were not on his level. He did what he was supposed to do in the rematch.
R U kidding? Ray Robinson of course. Leonard's career was great but not that great the way he finished spanked both by Norris at age 34 and Camacho at SMW...
