There aren't many positives to take from Saturdays performanceother than the fact he got the nod as the level of opposition improved his performance didn't.tell me something brook did well on Saturday that he doesn't usually do well. Nothing. But his fights are usually one way traffic so in the past it has been hard to comment on his defence, performance under pressure etc. The first time he steps up in class( and jones was no world beater) he struggles immensely and we're not talking about a hard fight it was bordering on an embarrassment. The things brook does well he does very well he is gifted in some ways but some other elements of his boxing on Saturday were awful if you cant see that your deluded

An embarrassment? Please :patsch:patsch Jones is still a severely underrated fighter, he turned up in the best shape of his life with real belief that he was going to beat Kell. Kell completely out-boxed him for the first five/six rounds. Then it is quite clear that he tires and his punches stop having any affect on Jones. He was basically spent after seven rounds, yet still managed to pull through and showed heart and a good chin to complete the victory. EVERY fighter struggles with a guy before they fight for a world title and if you come through that it shows you have something about you. Things were about 70% with Kell in the build up yet he still got the victory which is pretty impressive if you ask me. I'd honestly say Jones is a top 10/15 WW in the world and Kell still got past him which shows how good a fighter he is

I hate hearing excuses, they both trained for the same fight 1 was much better prepared than the other and if Jones had put more into the 1st 6 rounds it could have been a very different story, Im glad Kell pulled through but he struggled like hell!

It's not an excuse just an explanation as to why maybe he wasn't at his best. You could also say that if Jones put more in the 1-6 rounds he wouldn't have had the fitness he did at the end or if he had gone more offensive when Kell was boxing better Kell may well have finished him

I think that it was just a wake up call for brook. Hes neve really been tested and never really been hit. This has been a great fight for him and will make him step up his game. They are already bringing in a conditioner to help him.

He needs more fights like this, but he has made me change my mind. I still think that he can be champ and mix with the best within a couple of years. Just needs the right fights.

Jones may be an underrated fighter and yes he is tough but my point is if brook was what a lot of people in here say he is then he would have done a much better job on Saturday night. I have no doubt that he will learn from his fight but he had a lot of flaws exposed on Saturday and if he was only 70 percent then he's very unprofessional in his prep for fights. I'm not slagging him in the slightest I'm just sick of hearing about how great he is when he clearly isn't and that was shown on Saturday against someone with limited skills who trys hard and was fit. When he meets the equivalent of jones but somebody who is also a skilled technician he will be in serious trouble

IMO, it was a good reality check for Kell. His first tough fight and he came through it... just.

I think he will learn more from this than 10 Matthew Hatton fights. It will make him a better fighter in the long run.
