Sounds great, if it actually happens, but Ustinov? Really? I know he's ranked pretty high by the WBA, but he shouldn't be. If the eventual winner is to fight Wlad, wouldn't it be better to have Adamek-Price, or maybe Adamek-Arreola?
Arreola is being lined up for a direct shot at Wlad next anyway I thought, so doubt he'd want to bother putting that on the line in a 4-man tourney. Too early for Price as well IMO, not that I wouldn't give him something of a chance against Adamek but he needs at least another 4-5 fights against higher level opposition before thinking about chucking him in against Wlad.
Yeah, OK, I get it. Why take a chance when the big money is already a sure thing? - but imagine how much more interest ($$$) there would be in Arreola-Wlad if Chris first walked through those other guys? Plus, he'd have that much more "high" level experience before facing Wlad. Maybe even enough to, dare I say it? - beat him. (as opposed to just entering the ring to get beaten up & paid, which is the likely scenario.) If Arreola had the balls to do it, it would probably pay off.
Eh, let 'em both have another crack at the other brother. In the meantime, it will ensure that Pulev, and Ustinov are truly worthy, by being able to get past not ONE, but TWO top ten HW contenders en route to Klit shot.
I hope they do agree, so Solis gets atleast two good fights under his belt before taking on Wlad. It's obvious Solis wins this I don't see him beating Wlad tho. I thought he had a chance against Vitali but those chances are much much slimmer against Wlad. Unfortunate what happened int he vitali fight. Solis was looking good in there connecting with some nice shots.
I'd love to see it. The tourney between Povetkin, Chambers, Byrd and Brock pretty much set Povetkin up as an elite fighter and even since his career hasn't moved on since then he's still right up there Unless some of the other guys in the division do something big while this tournament is happening you'd possibly find the winner ranked 3rd in the division, or maybe second if Vitali is gone by then
Sounds spot on to me. . . I really think this Pulev guy has the best chance of winning it, just because there are too many unknown intangibles with Solis - intangibles like conditioning, where there shouldn't even be any issues with, seeing how he has world class skills. . . But I definitely would favor Solis over Adamek. . . But props to Adamek, as he seems more than willing to fight a guy like SOlis. Solis VS Wlad. . I think Wlad would chip away and either win a wide UD, or stop him late. .
I don't think Solis v. Pulev is clearly a fight in Solis' favor at all. . . I would favor Pulev, actually. . . They both have fought about the same level of competition at HW (can't really count Solis' fight against Vitali, but he was looking pretty good - it's just one and a half rounds isn't nearly enough to tell you anything). And Pulev is naturally bigger man, in that he walks around about the same weight, but much less body fat. Solis is a bit fleeter of hand, and foot, but Pulev has excellent timing, and technique. Just too many unknowns in areas where there should be no question at all with Solis.
I think Solis would come out of this tourney victorious and impressively. And ultimately lose to Wlad. If they were smart, they'd immediately line up another tourney so as to have the winner of that one take on Wlad after Solis. Or if by chance Wlad loses, you'd have the tourney winners face off. I'd imagine there'd be a contractual rematch should Wlad lose, but it would all end up being the same anyway, just pushed back a fight. All the more reason to get it cooking.
Suprised Adamek took this tbh. A fight with Ustinov is interesting, he's slow but i could see him giving Adamek problems. Chris is going to avoid Volodymyr and wait until Vitali retires. WBC President Sulaimon will give him a easy fight for the vacant belt in hopes of having the first mexican "HW Champ" Its obvious Solis beats Pulev? Solis moves like he has cement blocks on his feet. Pulev is very light on his feet and athletic.
