Honest question. Would Floyd have ever gone up to 147-154 if he was in the same era

There were pretty big money fights for him at the lower weights too around that same time so he could have just stayed there and established himself as a star

Thank you. Finally some common sense on that old story line.

Anyone calling Leonard a selfish ******* or a ***** doesn't bother me at all, but saying he was ducking Aaron Pryor is just not truthful. If Pryor hadn't snorted all the cocaine in Ohio from 1983-1987 he would have had his turn.

Montreal Duran beat a prime Leonard Floyd would be lucky to leave the ring with his teeth intact and his retinas attached.

No. But there would of been tons of great match-ups in his more natural weight classes. End thread.

Well Duran took a loss to DeJesus, but brutalized him in the rematches to leave no doubt. Floyd controversially beat Castillo most thought he lost, but clearly won the rematch. If we talking both of them on their best nights at 135 I give the edge to Duran on a SD15. Duran didn't stalk you with jogging or baby steps he cut off the ring. I think he underestimated DeJesus as Floyd might of with Castillo. I don't think Duran would of underestimated Mayweather he hated popular or name fighters. Duran was a skillfull, not your run of the mill brawler he had ko power too. Much more explosive than Castillo.

Barry Sanders is the type of guy you would love in terms of professionalism and 'behavior'. It was sincere too.

**** no. He and Zab would have stayed at 140 with Cotto, Hatton, and Shane. None of them think about moving up. Pac included.

Leonard owns him, and its damn scary to think about how bad Hearns would hurt him ...He would NEVER have moved up to fight those two ...

Do not compare him to the greatest, he was fighting for something worth more than money and championships.

Yes. He would have gone up, he'd just have ducked them same as he did with Manny Pacquiao and Kostya Tszyu. Don't forget, Floyd "retired" while Cotto, Margarito, Williams and Mosley were all active in his division. He returned later to face older, more shopworn versions of Mosley and Cotto. He never fought Williams and he rejected $9m to fight Margarito at a time when that was a lot of money for him. Yes he would've gone into the same divisions as those guys because his fans always buy his bull**** about why fights don't happen. He'd NEVER have fought any of them though, at least not until he thought they were seriously shopworn and the risk/reward balance was in his favour. That IS Floyd Mayweather.

130-135 lb Floyd would have fought anyone. He was hungry for those big money pay days.

It's one of the things that Leonard haters love to cling to mate, even though there is absoloutely no foundation whatsoever for the claim.
To be fair though, when you look at who he fought, from 80-82 you can see why people are angry that he never fought Pryor. He had the big mega fights with Finch and Bonds but when he fought bums like Duran,Hearns and Kalule you can see where they're coming from.
Why would the most bankable fighter in the game at the time(with genuine eye problems) fight a (albeit very talented) notorious troublemaker whose corner are the most infamous cheats of the era and whose only truly notable fight was the first against Arguello where there will always be allegations of cheating?:huh
I just can't work it out.And I'm a big fan of Pryor, but this "SRL ducked Pryor" poppycock is a desperate attempt by haters to question the greatest resume of the last 35 years.
And as for Floyd,I think he'd have a good chance of frustrating Duran, but it's very difficult to imagine him being in an era where he would be nowhere near as prominent in the public's thoughts or P4P list.
Ability wise,Ray always wins but stylistically, although I'm not sure if he wins he could give Duran a tough fight.
