  1. I always wondered why Duran never got the same stick for quitting against Leonard

Almost dropping dead from heat stroke doesn't really strike me as quitting.

Maxim took the same heat but he was bigger and have more fat, there's the difference.

first of all, he didn't quit. he couldn't continue, there's a difference. he literally couldn't fight on.

secondly, even if he did quit, that's like highlighting a flaw in The Mona Lisa. It's beyond nitpicking.

If this was a prime SRR there would be no excuse. This was an older, smaller guy putting a clinic on a bigger fighter. So the excuse is justified. Had they had a rematch anywhere else SRR would of been LHW champ too. Maxim had alil luck on his side.

I'd suggest there's just a slight difference between physical degeneration to the point of collapse and a conscious decision not to continue; namely personal will and volition.

Maxim also fought a slower pace better suited to the heat, if SRR lowered the workrate he coulda won a snoozer and lasted but he wanted to put ona champion performance like always

In other words the boxer with the better game plan won. Robinson may have won if it was 70 degrees, but it wasn't. Robinson may have won if he came in at a weight closser to the light heavyweight limit, but he didn't. Maybe he wanted to be able to retain his Middleweight championship?
