Understood but if I where to ask you if Chad Dawson had any chance at defeating Joe you would struggle to even consider the possibilty of him having a competitive fight with Chad....you'd total dismiss the bout as a white wash in favor of Joe....that's just one example. I've heard delusional Joe fans even state Joe h2h would have beaten Ali....

Joe was a great fighter, but some of these posts are absurd.

    H2H beast? Really?

He would cause anyone trouble, no doubt about that, but a beast?

    I can list facts.

It took him 9 years to unify a weak division.

He went to the U.S. years too late.

He starved himself towards the end of his career to fight at 168, when he could have had bigger fights at 175.

He apparently chased Roy for years,

but he never fought in Roy's weight class, when Roy was prime.

He also never fought in Roy's Country, when Roy was prime.

He wanted the crown jewels to fight Roy, despite being relatively unknown outside of Europe at the time.

This H2H beast struggled with Reid.

This H2H beast struggled for 6 rounds against Kessler.

Kessler came into the unification bout with wins over Andrade, Cummins and Sciaca.

    He'd beaten nobody of note.

Lacy had beaten nobody of note.

He got a disputed split decision win against a 43 year old Hopkins.

In 2006 he said Roy was finished. A fight against him would be pointless he said.

In 2008 apparently Roy's back to his best? And the fight is relevant again.

He tried to pull out of the Lacy fight, until FW managed to talk him out of it.

He pulled out of fighting Glen Johnson on three different occasions.

He had to lower himself to fight Manfredo to gain U.S. exposure, because he was reluctant to go to the States sooner.

    He was afraid of flying.

But he overcame his fear when Roy was nearly 40.

He proclaimed himself the Legend Killer after beating Roy on points, 4 years after Johnson had knocked him cold.

He was more than happy to keep re signing his contract with Frank, until they fell out right at the very end of his contract.

He once proudly proclaimed that he didn't do rematches.

He told his son not to worry, when he was preparing for Roy, because Roy wasn't the same fighter that he once was.

If he'd have fought Roy in the late 90's/ early 2000's, he wouldn't have had his zero.

If Roy had have stayed at 168, Joe wouldn't have been the unified champ.

He was a great fighter, but his ambition never matched his skills.

It's laughable that some of you guys on here, pick holes in Roy's resume, yet praise Joe's.

Calzaghe was far from prime in the BHOP match too, people forget that
It wasnt just RJJ or Bhop that were old, Calzaghe was close to the end of his career
Plus Bhop did not deserve the decision in that fight due to the fact he pretended to be fouled, grabbed held for dear life for most of the fight and this from the at the time current number 1 light heavy in the world facing a man in his very first fight at the weight and coming to his country.

I'd make Roy a favourite in a h2h with Joe.

    Can't think of anyone else.

yeah just Roy and young Bhop obviously, and Ward today would beat prime Zaghes. Then Kessler in Denmark maybe, or Robin Reid in a rematch quite possibly, 50/50 again like the first match. Ottke being a bit of a cheat, shouldnt get a mention for a joke gift decision in Germany when hes clearly not in Joe's league.

Obviously as the SMW division has got progressively less diluted there will be many more SMWs coming along of greater calibre than Calzaghe in the future, but that dont detract from his HOF status for record defences in that fledgling division however **** most of his opponents were, the record still stands for now, at least until Ward decides he wants it.

Respect to the British Lion for what he acheived, he showed that Brits can set records too, even if we have to pick and choose our divisions to acheive it.

Might be that Toneys recent performances color my judgement but I cant see him beating Calzaghe, maybe a draw at best.

Then why did he wait until Roy and B-Hop were old men before fighting them?

Remember how a shot to **** laughing stock and walking KO waiting to happen version of Roy Jones knocked him down in the first round.......a prime Roy Jones would have jumped on him and put his lights out, Jones by KO1- no denying this if a walking corpse version of Roy put his ass down.

Old B-Hop arguably won, a 33 year old Hopkins would have fought the full 12 and won wide, that's obvious.
