PS: What is your reaction to your opponent’s dad Angel Garcia who has insulted your heritage?

AK: I’ll knock Danny Garcia out and if his dad wants it afterwards . . . winning will shut his dad up. I’m going to hurt his son. It’s funny when he says he’s never seen a ****stani fight. You’re going to see a British ****stani fight and see him knock your son out.

PS: What does Danny Garcia bring to the ring?

AK: He’s a young, undefeated fighter, who is WBC world champ.

PS: What are his strengths and weaknesses?

AK: He’s a counter-puncher, so I’ll need to be smart. He’s fairly rangy and has a decent knockout record so the power is there to bang a bit.

PS: Describe your typical day’s food intake.

AK: For breakfast I’ll have a litre of water, 500ml of veg juice and porridge, plus a superfood shake which includes chocolate, acai, rosehip and coconut water. After training, it’s scrambled eggs with coconut and hempseed oil. Before the afternoon session, I’ll have grilled chicken, salad and sweet potatoes. Evening meal is steamed fish, grilled veg, lentils and brown rice.

PS: After Peterson was busted for doping, did Garcia readily agree to dope testing?

AK: Yes. We have both been doing US Anti-Doping Agency drug tests which involve random checking.

PS: Many criticised ref Joe Cooper for his ‘hometown’ handling of your bout against Peterson in Washington DC, so should there be a worldwide elite panel of referees to choose from for major world title bouts?

AK: Yes. The same way you have it in other sports such as football and cricket. We’ve seen some really bad decisions over the last year. Boxing needs to use that negative and turn it into a positive by making changes.

PS: Should the system of home associations providing referees be dropped in favour of a neutral ref?

AK: Most refs are fair and honest, it’s more a case of finding people who are competent and able to referee at the highest levels.

PS: Should it be compulsory for officials to explain controversial decisions immediately after a fight?

AK: Referees don’t score top-level fights, judges do. If a controversial decision comes about there needs to be more transparency.

PS: Scorecards for your fight against Peterson appeared to be changed. Should originals be available for public scrutiny?

AK: Perhaps but I think it’s more important to have ex-fighters on panels because they’ve been in the ring and can see things that people who haven’t fought don’t see.

PS: Do you agree there should be a minimum ban for boxers who take performance-enhancing drugs?

AK: They should be banned. There should be some severe punishments to act as a deterrent.

PS: Do you believe the taking of performance-enhancing drugs is rife in the sport?

AK: I don’t know if it’s rife but it’s certainly something that needs to be looked at a lot more closely.

PS: What example does sports people who try to cheat by doping set to young up and coming athletes?

AK: If you take something you know deep down you’ve cheated and all the glory is fabricated.

PS: How can fighters avoid inadvertently taking banned substances?

AK: Make sure you know what goes in your mouth. As well as my strict diet I use Maximuscle. There’s no doubt their supplements have helped me when it comes to my fitness training.”

PS: When will you box again in the UK?

AK: Definitely very soon. I miss my fans back home.

PS: Anything you would change in your career?

AK: No because you learn from every mistake and every success.
