Ricky Hatton comeback: Paulie Malignaggi would relish rematch Use accessible player and disable flyout menus WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi says he has "unfinished business" with Ricky Hatton, who is rumoured to be coming out of retirement. Hatton beat the American in November 2008 , but Malignaggi has gone on to achieve success, winning the WBA welterweight title in April this year. Stockport-born Hatton announced his retirement from boxing last summer after being defeated by Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas in 2009. A spokesperson for Ricky Hatton has told BBC Radio Manchester there will be "no comment" from any of the Hatton camp on the speculation. Good or bad ? He lost to 2 of the best in the world I am sad to see him come back
For his own health he needs to stay out of the game, get some counselling and learn to accept he is no longer in the limelight
Nothing good will come of this. And I'm a bit disappointed in Malignaggi.Become a big fan of his in the last year odds so I thought this kind of thing was beneath him.
Desperate for the spot light I guess and he knows the potential hype generated by hatton coming out of retirement with hordes of brits departing with their hard earned cash singing ''there's only one ricky hatton'' - convinced he's going to come back and clean the decision only for Malignaggi to get his revenge back with an easy TKO within the first 3 rounds.
he needs to cut 63lbs paulie has a 147lb title. this fight is ok with me, paulie hits like a girl anyway. lets see if he still can fight, remember, he's only 33 or 34.
Beyond belief how he can pile that weight off, if Ricky does look impressive against Pauline a khan fight will be on the cards.
Prime for prime Hatton rapes Khan in under 6 rounds. But Hatton needs to stick with his promotional outfit and enjoy his retirement. If he made a comeback I can't imagine it being successful as he isn't a fighter who lives the life of a boxer out of the ring. It's not as though it would be a Hopkins type fighter coming back.
Despite his bravado,I've discovered that Paulie is actually one of the most honest guys in the game.I know there would be a big earner but I'm just disappointed he wants to shout for it. And everyone knows Hatton didn't take his power up from 140 (or it wasn't the same anyway) Does anyone really believe Ricky could ever safely get down to 140 again? Even 147 would be a push.Only safe thing about Manos de Piedra(PM) is that Ricky might not get knocked out or badly hurt.
He waited for PAC to lose a fight before contemplating a comeback. PAC defeat must be a great motivation for him.
Even a shot Pacman would dispose of this ricky hatton and would probably put him in a coma this time round.
It's PAC who retired Hatton. So maybe he's thinking that if PAC can be beaten by the likes of Bradley then maybe he still has good chances against the current crop of boxers. I'm just guessing tho because of the timing of his comeback plans.
