Thanks Hagler...and just cuz I never post here, doesnt mean I'm a KHAN ALIAS, I was just offering my 2cents/info which i just recently learned, as to why shots to the back of the head/ear/side are so deterimental. Im not giving any excuses. I did favor Khan in the fight, but yea he lost, his chin has been exposed once again, and his legs gave away once again IMO breaking ties with Ariza was a bad decision
khans neck is and upper body seem pretty skinny and he also ha skinny legs guys like that tend to have weaker chins. but what do i know vitali fits that mold and has an all time great chin
The back of the head is where the cerebellum region of the brain is located, which deals with balance, posture and bodily awareness. I remember Foreman hitting Ali with a left hook to the back of the neck in the fifth round of their fight and Ali momentarily sagging into the ropes.
Would you be willing to volunteer? 8oz glove are hardly pillows, plus they are being worn by a professional athlete who has dedicated his life to learn how to effectively throw punches, side of the neck, chin, temple or jaw it's going to have a big effect
Also worth keeping in mind that the carotid artery runs up the neck to the brain. Any temporary disruption to that, can momentarily shut off the blood supply to the brain, which will basically **** you up for a few minutes. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't what happened, especially watching the way Khan was chicken dancing round the ring once he got up.
In addition, He got hit right after he threw a right uppercut on a jumping manner. No leg support whatsoever to absorb damage from that shot. Hard puncher Horrible place to get hit No help in absorbing the shot. Plus I think his neck is thinner now than when he was under Ariza. He's gotta work on his punch resistance big time. This is ****ing boxing, you're gonna get hit just like in swimming you are going to get wet.
^ khan may not have the best chin but that shot would have f'd up anybody. He showed a ton of heart fighting back the way he did, and coming back up from 3 knockdowns. People should at least give him credit for that.
Yeah, His heart. He even retaliated in the process. Waaay waay different from the glass chin khan we once knew.
