I think he should change trainer. It can't help him being dragged away to the Philippines, Texas, wherever the Pacquiao circus is all the time. As well as having to do Mitts with an Asian midget boy while Roach is away, again.
I don't think he should retire, I mean he has beat Kotelnik, Maidana, Malignaggi, Judah and lost a close fight to Peterson on PEDs. He chin is always a risk but he has shown able to beat top fighters and he should probably avoid big punchers.
I noticed that. I thought he was a back up S&C coach? What the **** does he know about working the mitts? Also those Wild Card gym wars cannot be good for longevity.
Ariza is going to get some money... At least Ariza will be in control and Khan team cant say **** to him because without Ariza they are going to have to keep cleaning glass.
They can better his defense for sure. However, when hurt - Khan is likely to revert to his running tactics, squandering around the ring like a lost child. He doesn't mean to do it, its just his instinct to do it. His reaction to being hurt is to fight. You think, when hurt, your not thinking straight in there. Khan will resort to the same tactics if caught. He could improve his defense under someone like Steward, and provide him with more safety first tactics. Khan will forever be utterly reckless if he stays with Roach though. Plus, Khan is naturally wired up to fight back. He hate someone to get the better of him so he has to answer back with his own shots which leave him wide open. Carefully matched maybe but Maidana and Peterson were tough customers. Mind you, he shipped some massive punishment in both outings. I surprised to see pull through Maidana. He was almost done. Khan will still make the same mistakes under Roach. He needs to learn some defense and avoid leaving himself open. Khan needs to use his head though, no trainer can do it for him. Khan is easily drawn in, and he probably won't change due to his stupidity. Khan could lower the percentage of those shots that hitting him. Sure, he gets hurt, but he doesn't exactly go the right away about dealing with being hurt. He could survived v Garcia with ring intelligence. Khan doesn't possess elite ring IQ though to pull through. Khan doesn't even buy time when hurt, instead chooses to fight back. That is a massive error in Boxing. You see how Mayweather deals with being hurt v Mosley? He remained calm and relaxed throughout the ordeal. He didn't panic or get into a war with Mosley, he knew the minute he does that he'd have got laid out. Thing is guys. Khan will always be vulnerable when hurt. He is reckless, lacks ring IQ, and ring craft. I believe Khan will never back down from a war. He loves it to much and that'll be his downfall.
man i wanted to see Khan KO Garcia out just to shut his ignorant dad up! Khan doesnt need to retire. It is a long way back but he still has something to offer! He is young but needs to start fighting smart, has a left jab but doesnt use it. The Uppercut is a bad shot for him as he is way too open! When he gets hurt he jumps right back into the trenches! Its madness! Time to leave Roach I think. Arizia did manage to get Khan's legs to be much stronger. Last night was like prescott and before that all over again where his legs just go to bits when he gets hit hard.
probably just scurla making **** up, i genuinely dont see how his vulnerability could be brain damage-related.
Extensive studys have been done in sports like boxing and NFL where head trauma leads to Neurological damage. Watch Khans first fight vs Prescott and watch his reaction when hit. First off when the body goes limp that's a clear sign of concussive trauma. Secondly the involuntary contortions on his face are also a postive sign of brain trauma. Concussive trauma invariably means brain damage of some sort. The damage can be temporary or permanent depending on the individual. But it must be noted that brain injurys can take very long times to heal if they even heal at all. In a sport like boxing and the extreme reactions Khan shows in respect of his punch resistance id be inclined to go with the lata. Bearing in mind he's been a pro for a few years now as well as his Am background and its even more likely that he does have some residual brain injury. A good comparison was Michael Bennett who was a US 2000 Olympian. He was quite notable as he had one 'withered' atrophied leg. Michael had a very successful amateur career much like Khan. But at a professional level his punch resistance made Herbie Hide look like Jake La Motta. His chin was sooo bad that he was advised by doctors to retire. And that's exactly what he did. Now Khans chin isn't as bad as Michaels but its not far off. And going by both mens reactions to being hit, Khan will either get hurt very badly and possibly permanently which would of course be an awful result. These of course are just my opinions. I'm not a physician so make of it what you will. :thumbsup
What the **** are you on? Should he retire... are you ****ing serious? I can't stand Khan, but **** me... the suggestion of him retiring is one of the stupidest things i've ever heard! I can't stand all these twats claiming a fighter should retire after every loss... pile of ****ing shite! If every fighter retired after they lost, there would only be Mayweather left... only person he could fight would be his old man! Look at B-hops... lost to RJJ, and look what he went on to achieve in his career. Wladimir Klitschko lost to Ross Purity ffs, then Corrie Sanders, and look at the ****er now... completely untouchable. Look what Haye done to Chisora over the weekend, people now claiming him to be the 2nd best HW in the world, and he landed **** all on Wlad, but by your reckoning, Wlad should be long retired by now, as should B-Hops, and all of the other greats, including Pacquiao, who have losses on their records.
khan should either rematch garcia or malignagi. or he should come back to england, go up to welterweight and get some good sparring and domestic fights in and then challenge brook. after that he can go back to u.s.a with a half decent reputation.
You're a complete numpty mate. Nobody is saying Khan should retire because he lost. People (Glenn McClory, Carl Froch) are calling for him to retire before he does himself some serious damage. His chin & punch resistance are shocking low. If he moves up to 147 he's liable to be brutally KOd again. He doesn't have enough ring s marts to compete at the highest level. His ego won't allow him to drop down to European level so retirement is a viable option.
didn't expect that from khan... but i don't think retirement should be on the table at the moment. maybe train for a while. break him down and rebuild khan. to a better fighter. then start fighting next year. but retirement would be a waste of potential
Wlad losing to Purrity is completely different to Khan losing back to back, both against pretty average fighters in all honesty. Wlad was beating Purrity easily and simply gassed. Khan was suckered into a brawl by a man who resembled a diesel tractor whilst coming forward, and then started trying to trade with a flat footed hooker, whilst circling right into it for most of the fight. He's simply not smart enough to fight at this level, in addition to having an eggy chin. Scur is right about the residual damage too, whenever he's hit pretty hard his body just disconnects. It's not like the Frank Bruno type thing where he just froze. Unfortunately his chin is just awful.
