It begs the question why Khan didn't pull Roach about this - you shouldn't be sparring without your trainer present, what's the ****ing point? If I was leaving camp for a week I'd give my deputy a list of what to do, and ask him to follow it to the letter. Roadwork at X o'clock Mitts for X number of rounds And so on. As for Manny, I don't think he'd stand some of the **** around the Khan camp. He likes to have control over his fighters, almost as a co-manager. If you're willing to invest time and effort into him, as Wlad does, you'll be fine. I actually think that spending time with Wlad would really help him, he's been banged out a few times by average opponents and had to change his style to prolong his career - something that Amir is going to have to seriously consider immediately. Roach just isn't the man for him, he's always going to be #2 to Pacquiao, and the circus around Pac won't do him any good, he'll think that everyone has to be that way. I'd certainly prefer him to go to Steward over Floyd Sr, that'd be a nightmare matchup for me. The Dark One could work out well, but again he doesn't come across as the sort to be pushed around or told what to do. This is the problem, there's too many people with a say in what happens. Dad Vali Saj **** knows who else. It's no co-incidence that the best fighters from Britain are the ones with the fewest people involved. Hatton had Graham and Kayes who were a good pairing, and his dad looking after the £££, but they all knew their roles and left each other to do their bits. Calzaghe had his dad and Allegedly. Haye has The Dark One. Froch has McCracken and Hearn.
On twitter and that Vali seems to be a decent fella. Think he handles a lot of the out of ring stuff for Khan. I have no clue what Saj's role is, they guy just hangs of Khan's balls. Why the **** would you fly some useless ****er like that around with you to all your training camps? Ariza is a bellend. There's a story doing the rounds that Roach has asked Pac to choose between him and Ariza for his next fight. Freddie can't stand the fella. Another thing, was Tabares recommended by Haye? I know he used to work with Haye before. Jorge Rubio was also recommended to Team Khan by Haye
even if AA was his s&c coach for this fight, he would have still got KTFO! he followed the wrong game plan and got caught by garcia's main weapon
I think Ariza wants to become a boxing trainer personally, but instead of getting a fighter from scratch and starting up, he seems to want to have someone who's at PPV level so he can gain more notoriety. He's had bother with Miguel Diaz too I think, he accused Diaz of being a waste of money and being a **** cutman, sure that's what it was. He's trouble, I wouldn't want **** all to do with him. Not sure which way Manny will go, him and Roach don't seem as tight as they were three or four years ago.
@ Undisputed - A lack of roadwork made Khan's legs weaker, you say? Get a ****ing clue mate! God you are stupid! Have you ever trained at all? Khan HAS GOT TO **** Roach off. He travels all over the world to get trained by him yet Freddie can't commit to him! "Oh it's Manny" or "Oh it's Chavez". Khan is playing second fiddle to these guys. I'd go with Manny Steward asap. Hell, Adam Booth would be a better choice at this moment in time.
when one rises to the top, they usually bring their long term mate(s) along with them. That Saj must be super close to him and keeps it that way too, lol.
IMO khan looked differant physically for this fight than he did in his last few fights. To me he looked more like he did when he fought Prescott and I said this before the Fight. This must be down to strength and conditioning. Now it maybe a coincidence that the moment Ariza leaves him, he looks very shaky again or it might be due to his physical build in this fight. I am also of the opinion S&C can improve punch resistance a little. Im not saying he would have stayed up if he had Arriza, just that to me he seemed to be weaker in this fight than his other fights where he has been tagged by the likes of Peterson and Maidana. Was that due to Arriza, Maybe. But let me just be clear, even if he had Arriza he would have run into problems like this at one point or another. Poor ring IQ and plenty of balls - not good for your health especially if you have a suspect chin
****ing hell what is wrong with you guys, its a strength and conditioning coach, not a head trainer, you cant just hire and fire a guy every time you loose or win, its Amirs fault and it would have happened with Ariza or with Tabares.
i agree, but look based on what we know of amir khan we can almost say with 99% certainty that khan will fight in a certain fashion - this means roach is less influential or significant. because is going to be fighting the only way he knows despite what roach or anyone else tells him. roach, gameplan are all insignificant to a certain extent with amir khan. now at least arriza can claim to have made a differane to khan. just look at the maidana fight where they admitted as much. add to this, Team Khan are notorious for blaming someone else. theyve done it with arriza and his replacement for mcloskey. they are also tight *******s, so if tabarez is cheap theyll keep him. i also think khan needs a coach who will give him 100% dedication as i feel from now on khan is going to be less cocky and play more safe.
Honestly mate, I dont think it will matter at all, I truly believe if he fights again he will get Ktfo again, my main concern would be at 147 against people like Ortiz, Berto, Alexander and even Brook, these guys have significany more pop and I just dont see Khan keeping them off for 12 rounds like he could do Vs smaller men such as Malignaggi or Kotelnik. Even at 140, whos left? Rios, Matthysse, Maidana again, Garcia rematch, all these guys are very high risk for Khan.
look, check all the threads created in the GF just before khan fights. many predicting khan will get starched regardless of who is fighting. after prescott if anyone said he would get tagged big by maidana several times but not touch the canvas, most people would **** themselves laughing. even peterson bought some serious heat and he didnt look too hurt. Before this fight most people were predicting a khan easy victory, some even by KO. Lets not go to extremes, one day people say hes gonna get easy W, next day hell get KTFO if anyone touches his chin.
hahahaha roadwork would make your legs stronger, you don't need a ****ing degree in conditioning to know that.
This, but there is no doubt in my mind that Amir's conditioning was much better under Ariza. He was on ***** street against Maidana and was a pubes width from being stopped against a bigger puncher than Garcia, but he was able to recover due to his conditioning. At no point last night did he ever look like he was going to recover. Ok, he fought valiantly and showed a tremendous amount of heart, but as soon as that left hook landed his legs were gone and they didn't ever come close to recovering.
