Was Roach at fault for Khan tko Lost? I say yes and heres why....

Roach is not to blame for Khan over extending and throwing a terribly timed and out of place UPPERCUT.

Khan literally threw the right uppercut before he had even pulled his jab back..

Out of position and wide open. Garcia perfectly countered...

Khan lacks ring intelligence and defence more than anything.

He seems to far put in his ways to change his defence

But his ring intelligence can and needs to be improved. All he has to do is get in and out. simple as that. and never throw a risky shot.

All he had to do was wear down Danny for 6 rounds then he might have been able to throw the shot he did with less risk attached.

After the first two rounds Khan should have known Danny was going to be there for a while...

And when Roach said he wanted Khan to be more flat-footed, he just meant that he didn't want him bouncing around constantly and burning his energy - like he did against Peterson and Maidana. He didn't mean 'stay still within punching range and not have your gloves up or head moving'.

 

miniq hit the nail on the hand with that post. i think freddie has been good at increasing amir's offense. amir used to have no power at all but now he can punch pretty good and hurt guys where as before his ko's were mainly against jounreyman. the thing about freddie he hasnt taught amir how to fight on the inside or hold when hurt. i dont know if thats freddie fault as the teacher or if it is amirs fault as the student.

 

No, you silly toss-pot. If you had followed Roach's thoughts and comments in the build-up to both Peterson and Garcia (instead of going only by what the HBO commentary heard in the corner), you'd have heard his 'flat-footed' instructions being accompanied with him wanting Khan to step around the ring as opposed to running and bouncing. He said he wanted Khan "a little more flat-footed", not "completely flat-footed".

Roach wanted Khan to conserve his energy more, and transferring some of it from bouncing around (sorry, he ain't Manny P) to putting a little extra mustard on his punches.
