For someone who is so 'great', how has he not taught Khan to clinch, especially after the Maidana debacle?

From everything I've seen, I'd say Khan is just not that physically strong. Looks like he can be bullied and pushed around in there all the time, against practically everyone he's faced so far. That's why he still pushes his opponent away all the time, it's the only way he can get them off of him.

Khan does clinch and he does it too much in my opinion, but Garcia didn't allow him to try and ***** out.

Roach said repeatedly in the corner, "Son you going to have to come out and clinch in the next round"

Not on Roach, it's on Khan and he seems to have problems with his legs when hurt even more so than the avg fighter.

He does that because he has no inside game, Khan can only do work at long range. Khan is a very limited fighter, people are blinded by his athleticism.

i agree he is not strong enough, he tried to against peterson but lamont kept pushing khan off him. wlad is excellent at this the thing is khan is not that much bigger then his opponents unlike wlad.

Yup. He can hold, but he won't keep a super aggressive fighter in that hold. And most of the time, he (stupidly) chooses not to.

You can teach a fighter to clinch all you want but when they're in the ring and out on their feet instincts take over. Some fighters first instinct is to clinch, others is to punch back.
