That defeat was down to Khan, nobody else. He threw a right hook then a left hook against a fighter who throws as soon as he see's his opponent doing so. Throwing two wide hoos like that, is suicide. If he'd kept throwing long straight shots, he'd have had an easy fight. If Khan wants someone to blame, he should try the mirror. The day before the fight, he said Roach had taken him from a ko loss to p4p, now this. He's deluded. Roach made him as good as he's going to be, but when ur punch resistance is poor, and ur answer to getting hit hard is to get into a gunfight, ur gonna get what he just got. IMO, he's done. He was crap against McCloskey, Petersen and now wiped out by Garcia. At best it's a long long long way back.
i still think Mckracken would be a great trainer for him. He'd help Amir transition from that amateur style to a professional one, give him a good strategy for every fight, wont be a yes man and doesn't have an ego - none of this 'we' ****, he knows its just the boxer who steps between the ropes and fights. Maybe Froch just wants Mckracken for himself, so he makes these comments about Amir.
Khan is the problem here. Anytime he gets hit he has to stand and trade which is ****in stupid. He also has no idea how to control the pace of a fight. Always hopping around the ring throwing 4 and 5 punch combo's. I cant understand how a fighter at his level neglects the jab so much.
to be honest i be shocked he leave roach BUT the only trainer i see who can teach him defence and inside fighting well and who is proven is Virgil Hill, but i dont think he wants Khan. Maybe Garcia? but he didn't teach Margarito anything new. Booth (Hayes trainer) i don't think so either. I am stuck who he go to?
one thing roach said about hatton which is true - is that you may be able to teach him a new trick or two, but when it gets to fight night and heat is turned up - fighters will always refer to type and always carry those old bad habits they've always had. khan is that stage in his career, where his bad habits or DNA is set. he wont be changng that. no one can change that. and lets face, khan aint really a student of the fight game or ever been remotely shown signs of being ring smart. he isnt going to change whether he has steward, booth or mccracken. they might change his mentality and lower his ego, as roach just massaging his ego all the time - but skills wise khan will always be khan. a guy like wlad can change because he has the physical advantage to use his strengths, is a thinking man and is scared of getting tagged (opposite of khan who seems to enjoy a tear up)
