Actually, having watched the Vitali fight a dozen times, and watching and rewatching the gif, maybe a hundred, it is no doubt that the injury to Solis was the cause for the ending of that fight. Not saying it was a NC, quite the contrary. It was a punch that stunned the big man enough to buckle his knees and turn his ankles and the verdict is conclusive. BUT......it's also conclusive that Solis could have come right back from the KD and potentially fought his way back had the injury not occurred. Of all the former K2 challengers it is Solis moreso than any other one that warrants a second opportunity. I think he should make another fight, just to get firing back on all cylinders, but thats just IMO. If Oner and Solis are ready now, I say give it to him. He earned it coming into the division and NEVER taking soft competition. He may not have beaten the #3 HW in the world or even a top 10, but his list of quality LOC is long and he beat most of them comprehensively.:think
No, not at all. Ustinov Adamek seems to be going forward nicely and I see no problem finding Pulev a dance partner for his half of the tournament. David Haye should be listening.:deal
If he's in shape, he'll give Wlad a good fight. The problem is, good shape for Solis is something like 220-230lbs, which he's never been remotely close to as a pro. Solis has potential to go down as one of the biggest wastes in Cuban history.
And Austin landed plenty of leather on his "****" chin to. As did Barrett, as did Welliver, as did Haye, as did Drummond, as did Airrich. What's your point again......Oh yeah you can't hold Solis resume against him( cuz he fights) You can't hold his blubber against him(cuz he wins). I disagree Jack. Solis ideal weight in terms of health is probably what you suggest. But as a HW fighter, he's proven to be at his best around 255. So if he got down to 240 and still looked good against similar LOC I change my mind, but 250-260 is his good average as a pro. And not such a waste considering that LOC.
Welliver? :roflatsch Solis has a Glass Jaw. And he has not fought anyone with a pulse other than Vitali and he didn't last past the first round. I realize the guy is Cuban and we are supposed to think he is great because they make excellent amateur fighters which Solis was but this is the Pro's and he has done nothing and the first legit guy he fought he got destroyed in embarrassing fashion.
If this is true and the fight is done Solis will destroy Wlad and this in turn will force his brother Vitali to change his mind about retirement and rematch Solis , then guess what : Solis will destroy Vitali too and take revenge . 2 pajaros de un tiro . I want to see this fight but not now, not until Solis beats a top 10 type and gets back into shape. He isn't ready now.
Solis was mandatory WBC challenger, he deserved his shot. I am a K2 fan but felt sorry for Solis when he suffered such a bad injury on the biggest night of his life. Funnily enough, that is the only loss on his record. I think he deserves another title shot.
