Amir Khan hints at split with trainer Freddie Roach....Opinions?

Roach can't train a chin and someone who refuses to listen

 

Not surprised, when he loses it is never is fault.

 

Amir will always blame everyone except himself for everything that goes wrong in his career.
I'm just waiting on him comparing his Olympic final loss to Roy Jones in 88 and saying it was the Olympic judges fault that he got KTFO on Saturday.
Either that or David Haye for making him lose focus because it should have been only HIM fighting the other night.

 

thats your opinion and thats fine, but im sure we can all agree freddies training style is made for more offensive minded fighters with good chins such as pacquiao


khan should try exploring different coaches at a point like this in his career ANYTHING will help and iv said for a very long time now that amir under nachos guidance could become MASSIVE


he has the natural talent but with a chin like his he really needs to learn some defense

 

Very late in the game. At this point you can only tweak a seasoned amateur and pro like Khan.

And this ASSUMES he LISTENS. He can go with Steward but Steward is even more heavy handed than Roach. Not sure how that will work with Khan Jr and Khan Sr.

He was given instructions before the fight and during the fight to watch for the high hooks and to clinch. He broke away from the game plan. He looked very good in round 1 yet got cocky half way in to round 1 and started to try make exchanges.

Wrong move.

 

think steward is the obvious choice but he tends to do better with heavys than other weight in the last few years.
If it wasnt for the fact him and froch dont get on Mckraken might be a good choice.

Roach knows much more than I'll even dare to know about boxing and he knows Khan's strengths and weaknesses. I doubt seriously he told Khan to go out in round 4 on shaky legs and trade punches with the very guy that had him stepping in post holes late in round 3.


I think Khan's problem is ego since he is in the gym with Pacquaio and Chavez Jr., 2 guys that have chins and can pop and he wants so desperately to be in their league that he disregards his vast talents in being a pure boxer.

 

that is an obvious setback but considering nacho doesent overly do THAT MUCH anymore because of his age (zaragosa now has taken over a lot of the duties) it wouldent be to big of a hurdle to get over

but i think the other user that posted is right about it being to late in khans career to try and make a switch

I notice how when hes been wobbled he doesnt listen to a damn thing Roach says in his corner. And if hes not guna listen to him hes guna listen to nobody.

Gotta say he looked set up for Garcia,s powerpunches though rather than set up to try neutralize it in any way. That was quite suprising seeing as Garcia didnt seem to be doing anything different.

Reminded me a bit of Hatton v Pacman. You leave yourself wide open and its only a matter of time.

 

I don't understand the appeal to hire a well known trainer. Is cotto better with a 100 % dedicated trainer like Diaz, or with a guy who shows up 2 weeks before a fight in Steward ? World class athlete should have their own trainer or train in a gym where their trainer is full time.

I did not say "Roach told Khan to go out and fire bombs." I said I seriously doubt he told Khan to go out and trade shots. Big difference.
