Ali was very physically strong, but he had average power. Haye definitely hits harder, just like Bert Cooper, Mac Foster, Ezra Sellers, and Herbie Hide all hit harder than Ali. It means very little.

Ali was not a hard hitter. He didnt hit hard. Awesome fighter and would beat Haye in a bout but Haye hits harder than Ali. Ali had some power that mostly came about because of his speed but Haye is a strong boy!
You really call that fight a blow out? yes the power of the punch was underrated but it certainly didnt put Liston in a different world, Liston still had enough left to out his arms out in front of him to lessen his fall. A blow out is Tua- Ruiz, Foreman- Frazier. Cleveland Williams was literally a shot fighter, no way would Haye have needed that many punches to finish him I'm pretty sure that if Haye hit Frazier as many times as Ali did he would have hurt him much worse than Ali did, and Foreman was so exhausted by the time of the knockout that he was barely standing, pushing on his punches. Ali didn't have much knockout power, he was more of a tko puncher, really good at busting people up, how many fighters did Ali knock out cold? Not denying that Ali could punch to an extent but he doesnt have Hayes explosive power thats my point, Oscar Bonaneva wasn't knocked out to me in a brutal fashion, Ali knocked him down three times and the fight was stopped in the fifteenth round. You think Lyle was knocked out in brutal fashion? he wasn't even knocked down, it was a nice tko but I don't think it meets the demands of my question?
Ali had crazy power. He put heavyweights down moving backwards. There aren't too many knockdowns in boxing history where the fighter is moving backwards.
Foreman said that Ali's power was pretty much on the same level as Holyfield, but Ali could probably crack a bit harder when he really sat down on it. You can see that in fights where he threw right hand leads, it always snapped heads and stopped fighters from coming forward momentarily except for Foreman. I don't see Haye as some big puncher at HW. The power levels are probably fairly similar with Haye and Ali, but Ali's power would be more effective because he hits you more often and much more sharply.
Haye punches harder than Ali did because he throws everything into them. The thing is with Ali though, he never looked like a hard puncher but he had heavy hands, very hurtful punches considering the way he moved.
if i had to take a punch flush on the chin from one of these guys in their prime..i'd choose ali. yes he'd still knock me the hell out but i'd live to see another day. haye's power to weight ratio is crazy, like him or hate him he's very heavy handed.

Didn't Haye knock Ruiz down moving backwards! I think Haye punches harder. Alis power was underrated though, he did knock out sonny liston and George foreman.
David Haye hits harder than Muhammad Ali It's quite ludicrous to suggest otherwise, Haye is a huge puncher, Ali had enough power to get someones respect Haye has knocked out every heavyweight opponent he has beaten, barring a man who has never seen the canvas and weighs 320lbs, and given the chicken dance he had him doing, had he been able to connect any follow-ups, he would have been down too.
