    one of his problems is that people dont get irony, and he has an exceptionally sardonic sense of wit. Its a Northern trait.

    Even worse is when said listeners mistake his straight comments for irony, because they cant discern between when he is being ironic or not. I used to get that a lot when I moved South to the extent that these days I just dont bother speaking if I know I am speaking to a southerner who has had a closeted upbringing. Just smile, its easier that way.
