fair enough he's been down a few times but he's never been KO'd as such. he's also taking some huge shots on the jaw and shaken them off so i dont think theres much of a problem with his chin...but what the **** is wrong with his legs?!?! as funny as it is to see him doing some sort of chicken dance around the ring, theres a serious problem there..the guy obviously trains hard and doesnt cut corners so what the **** is going on? is it possible that it's some sort of problem with his nervous system??

With the legs, That's what happens when your equilibrium is messed up.

Also you're being too literal. It's not just the chin per se. He has poor punch resistance. That means if he's hit with a certain shot anywhere above the shoulders. I'm talking, neck, ears, top of the head, temple, chin etc. He's likely to be hurt. You combine that with his numerous technical flaws and low boxing IQ and you have what you have, a very vulnerable fighter.

No need to over-analyse. You're either durable or you're not.

khan seems to be a strange case. like others have mentioned it's other flaws that exaggerate his lack of punch resistance.

the reason i say strange is... i personally dont think his chin is as bad as many others. his powers of recovery seem poor when he is hurt though. after maidana tagged him and had him hurt, he was taking a beating and running for a good two rounds.

Garcia too, had him hurt bad and he couldnt get his legs back.

he has shown also how he can take a punch and doesn't crack at the first punch that hits him like many are making out. some here are claiming if anyone touches his chin he's out on his feet. personally i think he really gets hurt when he switches off and is tagged big by a shot he didnt expect. when he knows the pains coming he seems quite strong, check garcia round 4 for some helicious shots he seemed to eat. to me someone with china chin can't take any shot flush to the face. he's not like that at all - and all these guys jumping on the band wagon saying carson jones, brook would do khan are clueless and wise after the event. they were the same ones saying he was going to walk over Garcia.

That punch would of taken many fighters out, and floored many others. The problem is his mentality doesn't match his chin and his defence doesn't help him be aggressive effectively.

How can a guy like Margarito take huge shots anywhere on the head from bigger punchers than Garcia and not be fazed by them, while Khan does the Chicken Dance. What is the physics/biology of it?

I'd like to know the answer to this as well.. I was watching greatest hits of Shane Mosely and Margarito kept coming even when Mosely was landing bombs.. Amir gets his once in the neck and he's done? Glass head? Will improving defense and being more focused even make a difference?

He was KO'd by Prescott (he was completely unable to make it up before the 10 count in the 2nd KD, in boxing that's a KO). He's not got the defence, punch resistance or power to be a brawler. He's been down far too many times by fairly light punchers for it to be any coincidence. He needs to play to his strengths if he's to make any kind of comeback, unfortunately I fear his chin is grade a china, and without whatever Ariza was doing for him/giving him, he's as easy to put down as ever.

His main problem is his lack of ring iq. If he stood off and boxed like he did for the first couple of rounds he would have done a lot better and probably won. For some reason he tries to get into a brawl and that's where his poor defense and chin come into play. Unfortunately for khan this is something he won't be able to change because as well as having a low ring iq he is an imbecile in general.

His defence is the main issue, every shot that hits him seems to land flush.

Look at how hard it is to land clean on the likes of Hopkins, Mayweather - even Haye and Brook (last week he was peppered with shots but how many properly connected?). Yet with Khan he goes wailing in leaving himself wide open to anything.

  11. His chin is a part of the problem, a guy like margarito might have a thicker bone structure etc, just biological things that allows him to take a punch better, but khans style doesn't help either, leaping in, wide open etc

His chin not the problem as Maidana and a 155lbs Peterson have proved Khan went 24 rounds with them and at times took clean hard shots bang on the chin without going down once, Maidana nearly done it.

His defence and mind set is the problem.

Khan cant deal with punches coming and punches going at the same time, he needs to have it as il get my punches off, then you can, then i will.

People have copped onto the fact you just need to throw hard shots in his general direction when exchanging because he CANT see them coming.

As Go Getta pointed out, his chin isnt that bad in taking single shots he sees coming but when theres 2 or 3 and hes punching hes a sitting duck.

Look at the first time he bundled Peterson over, he got caught coming in with a hook that if Peterson had set his feet and been a puncher, Khan would have been in big trouble.

Someone (skillspaysbills?) pointed out in another thread, he basically needs to become a Welterweight Wlad Klitsckho.
