Has Andre Ward at age 27 with Dawson coming up. already fought tougher comp then Floy

    I think in terms of how tough the competition is with Dawson coming up

    it's already very very close to Floyd's entire career.

    Ward has fought Froch-Abraham- Kessler- and now Dawson.

    Those should equal Hatton-Cotto-Castillo.

    Ward's far from done, he will probably fight another 5-6 elite fighters before 35.

    no. not yet. he will be a legend once he retires thats for sure.

    Surely it's close though ?

    Or you think overall resume wise Floyd had it tougher?

    Not higher ATG rankings atm.. obviously Floyd is higher.

    I'm saying the fights Floyd took..

    It's just very impressive how Ward is taking on Dawson.. already at this stage.

    I know it's at 168 but that's a very tough fight still.

    Dawson even at 168 is AT LEAST AT LEAST as good as Carl Froch

    Abraham isn't really a good win at 168 lbs since he was coming of losses to both Dirrell and Froch.

    nah, Floyd had solid fights with better or just as good opposition as Ward when he was at that stage of his career.

    All Ward has is Froch, Kessler, Mirand, and Abraham. Dawson will be HUGE for his resume tho.

    but Floyd has Castillo, Corrales, Judah, DLH, Hatton Cotto, Manfreddy, Mosley, Hernandez.

    Dawson has accomplished more than these fighters of his generation thats for sure. i think he might surpass floyd in the future, but he aint there yet. on top of that this era aint that good. but Ward is making the best of it.

    i predict him being a highly respected/ranked ATG when its all said and done :deal

    Probably Ward, but only because of the super 6.

    Floyd's been fighting for world titles since he was 21 years old, and of course winning them all.

    Let's see if Ward can continue doing the same.

    not near enough, no. Floyd has gone from weight to weight.

    the best comparison is against the other SMW long termers.

    Sven otkke had done nothing by Wards age, so Ward easily outclasses him. Joe Calzaghe had only the unknown title (wbo) and victories over unknowns and the semi-retired eubank at the time to speak of. So yes hes well ahead of his class.

    Hell hes even ahead of Roy Jones, the best SMW ever, if you are soley considering his SMW career.

    exactly. its not just about resume its about dominance and accomplishments too. i would like to see Ward move up or down and win more titles first.

    Good Post. I predicate Ward will pass Floyd too.

    Add in the Green win too.

    Green was like 28-1 I think when he fought Ward and still dangerous. A pretty good win.

    If Ward beats Dawson, that will be something for someone his age to have all those wins already

    IF DAWSON BEATS WARD. Big fights for Dawson to make at 168-175 as well

    I don't think so. If he beats Dawson he might well have the best SMW resume ever though.

    Chad Dawson will always be a skilled guy the majority of people forget/don't know about.

    He'll never be 'highly respected' in that manner, he will be the person you will have to remind causuals of in 10 years when they try to talk down Wards victory over him
