Amir Khan will NOT be the same fighter...he will go downhill from here!

AK is finished, the moment he moves up his competition by facing alexander, garcia and any other elite light welter - welterweight he will get KO'd...His career will go downhill from here, he simply cannot take a punch and his lack of boxing IQ and defence cannot be worked on anymore, his natural instincts are to fight back and get into a war...the King has fallen (not that he was a king anyway, more like a steward on the throne).

 

Possibly. Noone can continue taking punishment the way he does -- when he already has poor punch-resistence -- and expect not to deteriorate.

 

Honestly I have followed Khan since his olympic days but the hype does not justify his current situation. He WILL go downhill from here, the amount of punishment he has taken by the age of 25 and his last four fights leads me to believe his punch resistance has worsened and he will deteriorate as a fighter..shame really he has a lot of talent but just does not know how to use it effectively....too late to change trainers, damage has been done!

 

Most likely you're right. However, to me anyways, if he could learn to box his way to victory he may extend his career. The question is now, did he learn this now after being stopped again? That's hard to say.

He can still win some fights if he realizes what he is, and what he isn't. Only time will tell.

He needs a trainer that will not mince words with him, or enable brawling. To me, the fact that he was having sparring wars being allowed is enough reason to leave Roach. He should never be encouraged to slug it out, even in practice, he should only be practicing getting in, getting off quick and getting out. And he needs to be shown how to tie up when he gets hurt.

This may be an unpopular idea, but I actually think Teddy Atlas could help this guy. Amir may just need a drill sergeant type trainer at this point.

This. He needs to release he isn't Jake Lamotta and that he has a trainer for a reason.

 

Boxing implies defense, which Khan has very little of.

Earlier in his career he depended on his height and long arms to be his defense, keeping fighters at bay, while carefully selecting for smaller opponents with little punch power like Kotelnik and Malignaggi.

Once he started fighting bigger guys with a bit of pop things started looking bad for him - Maidana, Peterson, Garcia - all those guys gave him huge problems and he was stopped by one of them and almost stopped by another.

He can't depend on fighting at range to save him. It won't work. Garcia was tagging him at range easily and he had trouble keeping Peterson off him although he was fighting off the backfoot for the whole of the second part of the fight.

 

This dude isn't finished. He actually never was! Wins against an inconsistent Zab Judah and Marcos Maidana don't quite make a career unless you're Queen Khan!

 

He certainly has some flaws, I'm not arguing that at all. But his best chance to turn things around is to stick with what he can do well, and forget trying to do what he can't. What that actually means for his future is unclear, and rather he is actually able to do it is a whole other question entirely.

he was never as good as he thought he was or has good as his fans said he was. he was never the best in his division and he want be the best at 147.that being said call me what ever but i think he would beat randall bailey the ko king and ww champ. i think he could beat the magic man again for his belt.fights with him vs devon i have 50/50 but a slight edge to devon. i think khan will get another title again, i just dont think hes the best in division. some elite fighters he can beat and some he cant. it is what it is.

 

he was never any good to begin with he was a Glass Jawed fraud who was coddled and hyped up on here by the Brits. he can't take a punch and he can't fight. I can see why he had Amateur success but his 'style' is not good for the Pros and he has no power to keep his opponents off of him. None.
