Put it this way, when his career is over and you look back on his record, the name Pavlik will still look good even though we know he's not the force he once was, it's better than some unknown Latvian or a Tommy Karpency. (little dig at Frank and Clev there).

There was something not long ago about HBO and Pavlik:

Would they be interested in Froch/Pavlik? Can't see why not, but 3am start for the American audience?

Showtime ignored the last Froch fight... HBO would be nice enough.

Dont like the fight never really rated Pavlik from the beginning but its a name on the record if nothing else and would probably draw decent crowd/viewers.

IMO what Pavlik did have he lost after being totally outclassed by Hopkins.

Froch also deserves an easier fight before Bute II.

I think it was the Martinez fight where he really lost his way. Sergio wasnt the hearlded. Got himself a few rounds up and then Kelly got back into the fight then got cut and the wheels came off. He hasnt been the same for ages.

Hes looked awful in the 4 or so fight since- he looks massive at the new weight - but his power isnt great and he still has the same flaws as always. I can see him unraveling as soon as he start getting hit by someone hard and often.

Is it possible that Bute II won't happen? Wont be a huge money spinner compared to other options, and will be in Montreal as well. I think Froch will take the easy(ish) fight against Pavlik, then give up the IBF strap to fight Kessler again

pavlik isn't by any means a gimme fight which a lot of people here seem to be saying. I have no interest in bute 2 now, what's the point.

daft fight IMO, risky for bute and pointless for carl. If carl stops him early again then but is going to have to take a step backwards, he'd be better building up a few good wins and taking on who ever is looking good around that time.

Stopping Pavlik would make a big name for Froch in the States.

I don't really see why it's that much easier than fighting Taylor or Johnson was.
