Who has the better wins, the better performances, and all around resume? Both have been in this game a long time and are linked to eachother.

It's a tough call, it basically boils down to how much credit you give Margarito for the victory over Sergio.

Martinez had only been boxing for around 4 or 5 years when Margo beat him, so while that seems like a huge win, it wasn't. After that, every name on Cotto's list trumps every name on Margo's, other than Clottey.

It doesn't matter.. its still a big win. and Yes it makes his resume much better to have a Martinez in his resume, don't forget both were young not just Martinez...

Margo has the better resume. But It's close.

    Definitely Cotto imo.

I don't think you can give Tony alot of credit for the Martinez win because Sergio was a kid who barely knew anything about the sport. He certainly wasn't anywhere near the fighter he is now.

Good points. Cotto beat a lot of good fighters at 140 as well....and Bailey who is now a champ at 147,, Cotto waxed in a few rounds.

it's close, but the edge is to Cotto (The Mosley win was a big one)

Martinez didn't become a top fighter until atleast 5 years after the Margarito fight, he took up boxing late and has improved since then.

Plus the whole what fights was he cheating in would always make me not want to rate his resume.

Every win Margarito has had before 2009 is void because he was obviously cheating.
    Cotto has the better resume

That win was before Sergio found out about PEDs and was reborn at 36 yrs old.

Was The Martinez fight his first loss??
If so that would give Maragrito Cotto's scalp, Cintron's scalp & Martinez.

Margarito beat both versions of Kermit.
The up & comer & the hyped Manny Steward version.
(Who HBO did a story for before the fight in expectations to run with him)

Margarito beat a Better version of Clottey.

    Facts about plaster:

    *gives you elite stamina
    *gives you a terrific uppercut
*teaches you to be a committed body-puncher
*gives you a cast iron jaw
    *keeps you in great conditioning
*ensures mental toughness with a high pain threshold, and unwillingness to yield no matter the odds or difficulties

Anyway, I voted Cotto, but it's not based in bias.
