Read an article in the paper this morning in which Khan says he is prepared to stay with Freddie Roach, but only if Roach dedicates more time to specifically training him to help him improve/progress etc

Is he onto something here? I mean Roach has got his No. 1 man in Manny and of course Khan would have known this before deciding to join Roach's stable, but in this case does Khan have a valid point? With Pacman in the camp can Khan ever expect to receive the amount of time he obviously wants/needs to get where he wants to go?

If Khan is sparring with Manny he may be picking up traits from him which dont suit his own game and are making him the fighter he shouldnt be... we all know the kid is quick and I think hes also dedicated to the cause and a good trainer etc but hes got a shocking chin and he cant go about his business the way Pacman can so he needs a focused gameplan and way of fighting that will help him protect those whiskers and fight effectively within his skillset and limitations

he has the speed and athleticism to emulate manny's style however unfortunately he doesn't have the pop in his punches and most importantly the CHIN to pull it off. he better focus more on defense to protect his mandible or find a coach who can teach him........

it was a 16 week training camp, and roach left for 4 days!!

Yes Khan that's why you lost.

You lost because you don't protect your chin.

Again, he's not blaming Roach for leaving or anything. He just realises he has serious improvements to make, and is wondering whether they're possible to achieve under current circumstances. He understands and accepts Pac is the number one guy, and isn't asking Roach give that up.

The guy has Parkinson's and it seems to be entering a stage where full time training will not be an option for long.Pacquaio gave him the position he now holds and I'm sure Amir realises this isn't going to change.Even though he's just been sparkled,no one could say they've not been good for each other.
Maybe it's time to shake hands and move on.Saw a good suggestion the other day.A guy like Diaz, who gives Cotto 100% while maintaining a fairly low profile would be the way ahead IMO.
Style wise, there's things he could pick up from Nazim, but it's not the answer for me.I don't think a huge name is the right move if I'm understanding what Khan wants.

Didn't Roach once say he'll retire the same time Pacquiao leaves boxing? If that's true it means he won't be around for long which means Khan should seriously consider getting a new trainer. He'll end up with someone different anyway, so why not start now, especially when he's not getting the time and attention he wants?

Think with the ego the lad has and the high self belief, he really needs a trainer who views him as the No. 1 fighter he trains, rather than being the understudy to someone else.

Definitely an invaluable experience going to the States with Roach and training with Manny, its improved him a hell of a lot since the Prescott disaster but I think after this recent disaster its time to move, maybe as said above to someone less high profile but who is 100% focused on Amir Khan

His trainer won't make any difference. He made the same amateurish mistakes under his previous trainer and insisted that Roach had fixed it all.

Now he's had his ass kicked again suddenly it's his trainer's fault again. The fact is he shouldn't be making such basic mistakes even as an amateur, or a pro with the shittiest trainer in the world.

The mistakes he is making seem to be in his head, and he is incapable of fixing them.

I mostly agree, His ego is his biggest problem, thinking he's invulnerable and can just stand there & trade instead of using his outside skills & speed to stay safe.

However, this second KO has likely (finally) humbled him. He might have viewed Prescott as a fluke, but not now.

So, MAYBE there's hope for the lad.
