Roach is a very good trainer. He is definitely one of the best in boxing (despite being overrated by some, and underrated, and hated on by others). He certainly helped Khan immensely. I do think Roach is on the slide, and his physical disabilities are taking a toll. Add to the fact that he's by far the busiest trainer in the game, and Khan has to play second fiddle to Pacquiao, it really might be best that Khan splits. I still think he beats Garcia easily with, or without Roach.

Khan really does have some basic defensive techniques like turning his opponents, and of course, like a Martinez, or Haye (who both lack real defense), can use his foot speed to simply control the range of the fight.

He can't really sit in the pocket, and catch punches, though, and his upper body, and head movement is stiff.

 

He's already told him to **** off. He even offered to find them a new trainer to make sure they are gone for real.
Ever noticed how Khan likes dropping Roach's name so much in every conversation?

Yes, he doesn't listen, gets drawn into wars he's not able to handle. That's not Roach's fault.

That said, a more defensively minded trainer working alongside Roach would probably do wonders for Khan.
