Insane fight, would be extremely fun and possibly FOTY.

    Mayorga by decision.

Idk man never been a fan of Margo even pre Cotto of course his chin is A grade quality, but even tho Cotto did much better in the rematch and looked stronger not letting Margo push him back as much Cotto was still backing up most of the fight. I never thought Margo was a power puncher, but his punches are still hard and had an effect on Cotto. He also had those early ko wins vs C level solid opposition like Johnson and Escopeta Gomez. Not close to Mayorgas awkard, loony, punching power, but if Mayorga couldn't knockout Margo and tried to match him punch for punch Margo could have him in trouble. Even today it would be fun to watch, but back then I think Margarito would get to Mayorga mentally. I think Mayorga got to Forrest mentally in both fights while Mosley was very cool headed. Margo was very cool headed. Stylistically this one goes to Mayo. Hard fight to pick a winner in.

I think Margarito wins by late stoppage with Mayorga winning most rounds or his superior speed and power before the stoppage but Margarito putting in work to the body and wearing him down and making the rounds closer and closer til he takes over around rd 10 and corners him with that excellent ability to cut off the ring and then nails him with shots from those ****ed up angles.

The only decent fighter at 147 that Margarito ever wore down and "stopped late" was Cotto who gassed out from all the movement.

Mayorga didn't have stamina issues and could brawl for 12 rounds no problem. Hell he chased Forrest out of the ring pretty much

looks like you know what you're talking about. margarito's style would actually suit mayorga. he wouldn't find it hard to get his big punches off. after 3 or 4 rounds the pressure of mayorga ( and his power) would start to push toney on the back foot. and we all know he can't fight very well there. this would spur mayorga on, and he'd go all out to finish it.

    mayorga KO margarito 8th/9th round.

Chasing one isn't the same as throwing 80-100 punches each round over 12 rounds. That's not Mayorga's game. He'd get dragged into that just based on his machismo, thinking he can out do Margarito.

Still, why are people acting like Mayorga gasses out? If he can evade Forrests shots to land his own Im certain hed have no problem with Margarito's telegraphed arsenal.

Pretty used up Mayorga gave Mosley absolute fits and handled everything to the head and body until the last round. One fight before Mosley papi'd Margarito from the first bell on....

NOW- I know, triangle theories don't work but it's something to consider from a defensive perspective. Sharpshooting fast punchers like Oscar and Trinidad were what troubled Mayo, not plodders. I'm just doubting Margarito lands enough to really take a toll, if it took Trinidad 9 rounds at 160 and Mosley 12 to do so at 154

only a slick boxer like Spink could take Mayorga on his prime.Forrest himself-a p4p at the time-got caught by wild Mayorga.Margo's style was tailor made for Ricardo.

Mayorga was a heavy hitter in his prime..... but always had stamina problems. Margarito's relentless pace probably wears him down in the later rounds. Mayorga could change the fight early with some bombs though.

    Margarito by late TKO.
