How would a fight between these 2 play out?

    26 y/o Johansson 22(14)-0-0 (From Patterson I) 6' tall 72 inch reach weighing 196 lbs vs 24 y/o Quarry 33(18)-2-3 (from Frazier I) 6' tall 72 inch reach 198 lbs.

Aw, I love Ingemar.......but I see Quarry counter-punching him...because I always thought Ingemar was a bit too open when he was attacking, sloppy punches and all.....
    Quarry by late TKO.

Ingo has the edge in power. He stopped Machen in 1 round and Patterson in 3 rounds. Patterson stopped Ingo in the 5th round and then in the 6th round (Patterson was down twice in their third fight).

Machen clearly outboxed Quarry. Quarry went 1-0-1 in two decisions vs. Patterson... some felt Patterson won both fights. Patterson dropped Quarry once. Quarry dropped Patterson three times.

Ingo decisioned Brian London in 1963. Quarry decisioned London in 1967 and stopped him in 2 rounds in 1969.

Since Quarry's death he has somehow become a technical wizard in retrospect... I've read many comments on his counter punching ability lately... but I'm not buying what those people are selling!

Quarry didn't only get cut often, he was dropped several times as well. He was down 6 or 7 times in his career. He was stopped 6 times. He lost 9 times. He wasn't very hard to hit, even by guys not named Ali, Frazier, and Norton.

Johansson was down about 3 or 4 times. He was stopped twice, both times by Patterson. He also stopped Patterson. These were Johnasson's only two losses.

    So, who wins?

Never discount Jerry Quarry in any fight, he was one tough fighter.

Quarry would have knocked Ingo's ass out. No doubt about that. That was known even in the 1960s.

let's hope ingo doesn't become a new esb classic favourite and begins suddenly winning every fantasy fight for no particular reason

You mean like Quarry? I'd rather talk about Johansson for a while if it meant not seeing so many Quarry threads.

On that note, Johansson by TKO in the 11th round!

If you've learned nothing else today sir, it should be that Ingo is always the answer.

Yes, he fought Ali, Frazier, and Norton and got the crap beat out him by all of them. F-ing Chuck Wepner did better against Ali, so did Henry Cooper... even in their rematch for God's sake!!!

Honestly, sometimes I feel like my sole purpose for coming on this forum is too hate on Quarry. If I could travel back in time I would, just to call Quarry a crakker
