Today, Nonito Donaire's style strikes me as beautiful..he has moves like SRR in the way he sets a guy up for the kill..he moves like a killer cat.
Bumping a great thread that I have bookmarked. I want to add a few old-timers that I have been watching lately, some have been mentioned...Tony Janiro, Barney Ross, Canzoneri, Willie Pastrano, Tommy Loughran, Billy Conn, Gavilan, Lou Ambers, Joey Giardello, Eddie Perkins.
He's my favourite of today's fighters. Sanchez, Ali and McCallum are probably my all time favourites to watch. So smooth and relaxed in their movements.
I'm obviously in the minority here since I don't recall his name being mentioned but I enjoy SRL. He's just got a lot of everything. skill, power, ring smarts, speed, a good chin, no flaws really.
He's been plenty mentioned. Especially on the first couple of pages. While many rememeber him as a slickster and a mover, I really enjoyed him the most when he was in "killer mode". One of the best finishers ever. Put together such fluid yet precise and deadly combinations.
Love his defensive moves. He's so good at getting his shoulders up for protection. Often he doesn't bother to duck beneath hooks, but just puts his shoulder up and rolls with them. And what a jab.
As flawless as they come really. I just wish he let his hands go more and cut loose some combinations. It works beautifully for him as it is, but personallly I'd get even more pleasure out of watching him if he did that.
Salvador Sanchez........ 'Poetry in Motion' Livingstone Bramble......"Before the loss to Edwin Rosario'
Oh, yeah. "Tiger" is perhaps an overused word when describing fighters, but he was just so relaxed yet alert the whole time and then, when it was time, suddenly pounced with all the deadliness in the world.
hate to say it but i disagree. tremendous fighter not my cup of tea james toney, an aggressive roy jones, chris eubank, pre-leonard duran
