The glamour of being a pro boxer!

Tommy Tolan grafting on morning of his fight with Paul Moffett in Belfast. It's a genuine hark knock life. Funny wee video.

you'd be surprised. One guy said to me during the week. "Reynolds must be delighted that he is turning pro, win or loss he must be getting 50 grand anyway I'd say"

Aye, I remember people round my way thinking Lee McAllister was probably close to being a millionaire.

I bet McAllister is surprisingly well paid though.

He's had a really strange thing going on up there, despite being, frankly... a pretty poor fighter.

It's not as if he's really a likeable kid either, he's a Bertie Big Bollocks with Audley-esque delusion as far as I can see.

The quit job in a European title fight was bad.... it's weird how some fighters wouldn't ever think of quitting or going into their shell just to go the distance, whereas others do one or the other (or both sometimes) in fights.

It's not really the ideal job for a person who's inclined to give up when things get tough, is it?

David Barnes got 14 Grand for his British Title Fight against Jimmy Vincent.
Robin Reid for 80 Grand for his fight with Brian Magee.

Despite not being great, he's the best from this far up for many years, couple that with a general lack of boxing knowledge and his WBU title wins, he's a bit of a local celeb round aberdeen.

I didn't think he was earning that much as he isn't a full time pro (AFAIK).

Most of that £14k will have gone to the referee :yep

We hardly ever have decent boxers, though it's starting to get going a little bit.

Nearly all the sporting talent in Leeds and the surrounding areas is in rugby league.

West Yorkshire really is league mad.

Don't remember the last time I saw a game of junior football going on round where I am.

I'm sure I heard that Lee was a joiner? Still, handy to keep him out of mischief between fights.

    Carl Johanneson.

Leeds just isn't a boxing city in the way that Manchester is, or Sheffield.

It's rugby league and cricket, followed by football.

Even worse in Aust. The average is around $250 per round - or $1,000 for a 4 rounder.
Still expected to shift tickets also.
