Ashley Theophane is a strange one, he thinks he's a world class operator, yet is average at British level.. He ran Danny Garcia close a few years back, but Garcia was 1/5th of the fighter he is today. What's everyone's views on the Theophane?
Garcia is better today. But I'd never say he was '1/5th' the fighter he is today. Theophane is obviously good. You don't have close fights with Rodriguez, Garcia and Corely without being above British level. I think he may have problems with weight.
A fit, fully focused Thephane would be a world beater... kidding, I think he has the potential to do better than his recent performnces though.
Fully motivated think he's obviously above British level (European) but he seems a bit of a **** like, thinks he's above these domestic fighters, well hasn't proved it has he.
From what I've seen in interviews, he seems like a nice guy. He has some potetial but should move up to Welterweight.
He got a lot of confidence from acquitting himself well in America. He needs a reality check though as he was beaten by Darren Hamilton and lost his ranking in the process.
the man is a ****** with all his tweets saying destined for greatness.after his last L id say destined for scrapheap
Came here thinking he could win the Lonsdale title outright while on a rest year, guy's ego got checked nicely by Hamilton but in reality Murphy showed he just isn't all that.
Just don't know what the fuss is all about with Theopane, imo he looks like a fighter that has the sparring partner mentality when in the ring and a very delusional attitude about the level of fighter he really is when he is out of the ring. Imo he was lucky to be British champion
He is a strange one, he looks like a boxer who has all the ability in the world, but then comes out and fights like Haye did against Wlad - just not happening! It's just another case of a British boxer not playing to their strengths. Wasted talent.
Yeah he really knocked the arrogance out of him that night, I'm glad Murphy is back to winning ways. He deserves another title shot after that Macklin type effort.
