It is too bad a Mayweather vs Williams fight never materialized at 147, a relentless volume puncher like Paul Williams with such a size advantage may have been just the guy to overwhelm Mayweather with activity.

No. Do you really think punching alot against a COUNTER-PUNCHER would work? Floyd is excellent at making people fight at his pace and slowing it down alot.

Paul Williams was known for taking it on the chin and acting like nothing even happened (which was part of what made the Martinez KO so shocking). If Floyd's counter shots do nothing to phase him, he's got some trouble.

There was a reason Floyd avoided Williams and Margarito when they were prime, they were NIGHTMARES for any boxer during their primes. Floyd wouldn't KO Williams, and definitely wouldn't KO Margarito prime. Williams would win off activity, Margarito at his prime might have been able to wear Floyd down like he did Cotto.

Williams and Margarito in their primes would have both lost very wide decisions to Mayweather.

If Williams can take Margarito's plaster, he'd walk through Floyd's Xylocaine.

Definitely would've loved to see him fight either of these guys in their prime. Don't know about Floyd losing but a granite chin/relentless pressure/size advantage would give Mayweather hell. Which active fighter around his weight class comes close to having those three tools?

No dis' to Paul, but FLoyd would pick him apart.

Walk through his punches or not, he'd still be getting his head bounced all over the place, while barely being able to touch Floyd.

Floyd is too defensive to hit PW consistently. PW will rush in, clinch and throw punches, get separated, get hit, rush in, clinch and throw punches until the final bell. FLoyd will try to get space, throw and then try to block and slip the storm. If there are 2 Mexican judges, Floyd would lose the decision.
