Can't say I agree with every point, but fair enough.

maidana has had one fight at ww and against the worst style he could possible fight so he looked ****. but every fighter is entitled to a bad night especially in a debut at a higher weight against a nightmare style.

fact is maidana is proven at world level thurman aint, so untill thurman fights someone decent i'll favour maidana over him

Maidana is solely judged on the devon alexander @ 147 because thats the only fight he's in that weight class. However now that he's with Robert Garcia I think he's improving and he had more time to naturally grow in to the weight class. He seems refocused and disciplined with Garcia. I was kind of disappointed he dropped out of the fight but I have a feeling that was more of his management's doing than his own. The guy wanted to fight canelo for god sake. I know probably because of the pay day but anyone that small willing to fight canelo has huevos. He'll knock out soto and then hopfully fight Matthyse is argentina. He beat him 3 times in the amateurs, he keeps saying that he rather not face a fellow countryman but there is so much demand for this fight and too much money to be made for it not to happen. Lets see how his power looks at 147 in his next fight. Thurmans got power but i'm still not overly impressed with him

    I agree with this.

People forget Maidana's experience and raw sense of timing is what carried him to where he is, along with his toughness and power. I always reference Cayo and ask the question: is Thurman a better boxer than Victor Cayo, considering how he fought against Maidana and Peterson?

The weight is an issue, but I get the sense he'd prepare differently a second time around for a fight at 147 from what he's said in interviews.

Please Victor Cayo fights like a fool and everytime his can crushing ass has steeped up hes been stopped. Peterson fought like **** against him and still beat him. Maidana is ridicously overrated, he has nofootwork awful technique, a poor jab and overrated power. He's living off the Ortiz fight and rockin khan which is not exactky that hard. A good quick powerpuncher will have him on his heels. Thurman by late KO or UD

Cayo gave Peterson trouble because he's athletic and skilled. The only way you can claim Maidana is overrated is if you try to underrate the whole 140lb division. If you'd like to do that, be my guest, but then don't turn around and pretend Thurman's resume has him shining above the rest.

Maidana is overrated and is treated like some powerpunching beast. His heart and guts has gotten him very far combined with decent pop but in his last 3 fights he has looked very poor and that is clear as day. I mean what did he really do at 140? Beat Ortiz, lose to Khan, beat Cayo, lose to Koltelnik go life and death with a way past prime Morales. Then he stepped up to 147 and Alexander took him to the cleaners. 140 wasnt overated but Maidana certainly is and if he ever fights Thurman I'm near certain Thurman would beat him and maybe stop him

He's a limited fighter for sure, but I don't see people overrate him. Nobody claims he's a versatile and highly skilled boxer, but he is indeed a beast, if nothing else. 147 may be an obstacle, but Thurman clearly is not on the level of fighters Maidana has competed with. I'd give Thurman props if he won, but he's untested and would be the one stepping up in class. Alexander couldn't stop Maidana on his best night ever. Is Thurman better or even as good as Alexander, Cayo, Khan, and Ortiz?

He may not be as rated as he once was but by the poll there are still a number of people with that delusion. And how is Thurman clearly not on the level? He may not have the resume but he is 23 and has 18 wins with 17kos he's no joke. I think he hits harder than all of Maidanas opponent besides Ortiz. He is a natural 147 unlike any of Maidanas opponents and has the relevent speed to match. I really want this fight to go down the result will seem obvious after it happens
