That depends on where Khan is mentally, right now he is coming off of a brutal knock out loss I mean he was uttered thrashed in there, just prior to that he was walked down and beat by Peterson.

Yes I understand peterson was on steroids, but it doesnt erase what he took in that fight. he had a hard fight with Maidana as well. there is allot of wear on that body right now. Not to mention he isnt really sure if he wants to keep his team intact or not he really needs to work all of that out before taking a big fight, he has to be 100% mentally going in if he cant trust his team going in whats the point?

He should sit out a year

Nah he just needs to fight a few bums - then a tune up then a title holder - one with the least amount of punch ideally! (Paulie if he can hold on that long)

I have no doubt that he will fight at the top level again - its just there are some young guys in 140 - 147 that can really bang!

True that, Roach has ****ed up by trying to make him Manny II, Khan never used become a brawler, he was a boxer, Roach has ****ed Khan up.

its also Khans fault, the most important aspect of this game is to know your role know what you are what your good at. When Khan said at the final presser he was coming to knock out Garcia, I honestly thought he would but that he would do it behind the jab and boxing catching Garcia on the way in.

When the bell rang and he came forward and started standing in there trading I knew he was giving Danny his best chance to win..... its not just on roach here, Khan should know better.

I agree with you 100% I thought the same, Khan would work on this guy for about 7 or 8 rounds behind the jab breaking him up and not really giving Garcia much to land on.

But after the 1st round Roach should of reminded Khan of this and a good fighter would listen to the advice from his trainer, Khan was way to aggressive from the start, it's like all the trash talking really got to Khan and tactics went out the window, but Roach should of got him in line after the first that's his job.

Just pick up where he left off, biggest danger is his confidence going. This will be a test of his character.

Agreed, he needs to take 2 or 3 easy fights and work on his weaknesses. Khan will also need to abandon the idea that he has to prove his chin or fight for the crowd. He needs a trainer that will sit with him expose all his technical flaws and then rebuild him, part-time attention from Roach will not do.

Yeah, maybe, just maybe he could take a 37 year old Mayweather.

By that time though, he(Khan) will be dodging the likes of Broner, etc.

I think it's more likely though that Khan will never be able to beat Mayweather. Even when he is 30 and Mayweather is 40, or so.

I don't think Khan needs time off in the short term but I think it'd be beneficial to his career in the long term if he did take a year out of the ring. Young fighters routinely get burned out and fall out of love with the sport and I can see the same thing happening with Khan, so I think 6 months away from any gym, and then a fight in the distant future would be a good idea. It's not so much a physical thing but a mental one and after a frustrating time recently, a long rest would probably be beneficial.

As long a much of that time is spent working on his lack of fundamentals, I don't see a problem with it.
