In Pavlik's case there is no shame in losing to Bernard Hopkins at 170 lbs, since Hopkins is the type of fighter who can do that to anyone.

But after that fight with the drinking problems and everything else, and eventually Martinez the hype has ended.

He still managed to win the WBC and WBO titles aswell as the ring title I think which is what a lot of fighters hope to achieve.

Khan. Before he was smashed his fans were like "Khan will kill this guy and that guy and out box this guy and drop this other guy blah blah blah..." and now what?
Amir Khan is simply A Mere Con.

That being said he will be back and I think he will do well.

Man, I never jump up and cheer and **** for a fight, but when Khan got ktfo, I did.

But being that the luster was already off Khans shine a little bit, I guess it would be Bute(even though I was pulling for him against Froch).

Jeff Lacy maybe I mean he was favoured to beat Joe Calazaghe.

Devon Alexander was hyped to be the future P4P number 1 after the Urango fight but the Kotelnik, Matthssye and Bradley fights have stopped the hype.

Khan was hyped to beat the likes of Mayweather, Pacquaio and Cotto.

Bute got a lot of hype.

I don't think they were hype jobs though since they have fought a won world titles. They just had a lot of fans who rated them to highly.

In Bute, Alexander and Khans case they are still active and can still achieve more if they continue to improve.

I'll tell you which one hurt to see...

    "Tuesday Night fights"
Oba Carr Vs. Livingstone Bramble I
I was a huge Carr fan & TNF's was really pumping him up.
And up until that point Oba looked like gold.
Bramble was obviously brought in as an opponent with name value & somewhat shitted in Oba's "coming out" party.

Carr won the fight, But the "Hype" was never the same.
(Granted in Noway do I consider Oba a hype job, he had a very good career)

Jeff Lacy was exposed pretty harshly, and crashed hard. So much hype around him. David Haye against Wladimir I would have to say takes it for me. God so many annoying threads about Haye being the "HW savior" and this, and that. Turned out to just be another victim.

If I was around at the time, I'd say Mike Tyson hype getting exposed by Buster Douglas.

Yeah, Bute beated guys more convincly then Froch and Ward, and then, he was all hype. Yeah right. THe beating that he got from Froch doesn't take away his performenced againts against guys like, Bika, Miranda, Johnson, Mundine, Berrio, Magee, etc.

Yeah he was hype. Not all hype but a whole lot of it. Fact was he had never faced an elite fighter in the division, when he did he got stomped.
