at the end. its so hard to say. who can truly see a difference in handspeed of prime jones, taylor, camacho or russell jr.? all have super speed, I can't see any huge difference. if I had to pick than it would like this.. 1. jones 2. taylor 3. russell jr. 4. ray leonard 5. camacho
This right here. I remember rewinding the VCR over and over again to see how the hell RJJ landed punches. That was amazing. Gary Russell is the fastest today though. I don't think FMJ is quite as fast, but he's deadly with his accuracy and timing.
pound for pound, it's Valuev. Take the time it takes for his punch to reach from A to B and divide that with his total pounds, and compare that to the number you get for Roy Jones. Clearly it's Valuev.
RJJ Ali Meldrick Taylor SRL Calzaghe had quick hands and suprisingly effective - high volume and superb conditioning. But RJJ had superior handspeed and significantly more power - no human being should be entitled to those gifts of nature (aalied of course to his torturous early training). But RJJ didn't throw as many shots or as many combinations as Calzaghe who had a fine ring brain to boot. Honourable mention: young Mike Tyson
All of you must have started drinking early today. Manny Pacquiao has the fastest most accurate and lethal boxing hands in the history of boxing. I have seen SRL live, Khan live, Floyd live, Mosley live and RJJ live. You may dislike Manny Pacquiao, but he without any doubt has the fastest hands ever. I saw him sparring at the Wild Card Gym, and watched him throw over 100 punches in 5 seconds! The most amazing feat I have ever personally witnessed. Incredible.:huh:huh:huh:huh:huh:huh:huh:huh:huh:huh
you should've made a poll with this thread at the top of my head rjj, meldrick, gary r. jr, pacman,.... videos would also help as a comparison, but i'm too much of a lazy arse to post em....
tons of fast handed guys who didn't commit (for example, Aceleino Freitas' little shoe shines to the body were pretty much uncountable - but like Meldrick Taylor's, they did very little) The fastest guys who do damage are Pac, Jones, Aaron Pryor (most relentless guy EVER), Leonard, young Hearns, young Camacho before he had any tough fights. Tyson was pretty fast for a man that big, too. I think Khan's raw handspeed is over-rated - he lacks precision and intelligence, they are like straight shoe shines. Gary Russell is very very fast, and let's be honest, Linares does have blinding speed, as does Abner Mares. early in his career Johnny Tapia was blindingly fast and busy, too.
Imo it´s very hard to say. There is variety of different kind of speed. It depends on what punch particularly we are talking about. To me fastest combination puncher seems to be Jones jr (15 years ago) expecially if it means combos to the head and body (vs. Harmon, ingredible!), also Gamboa is very fast with his head-body-combinations.. But if I look more to 12 punches it could be Khan, FMJ(10 years ago) Jones jr, Mosley(15 years ago), and even David Haye has a very fast (and lethal) 12 imo. Fastest single puncher seems to be (left hook) DLH, (straight left) Pacman, (strait right) Jones jr/Mosley/Judah/FMJ/Dirrell Fastest jab would probably go to DLH, FMJ, WK.. It all depends are we talking relatively or absolute measures.. Any way, it´s very interesting question.
