He wasn't a hypejob in the sense that he was a terrible fighter, he won titles and was entertaining no doubt but he was massively over-rated, especially on this side of the Atlantic. People were talking about him as being on the verge of being one of the great featherweights, Manny Steward done his usual and refered to him as the greatest FW of all time rofl) at one point and the press over here were lapping it up.
pavlik's hype didnt need to end. he established himself by destroying the middleweight champ of the world twice. he lost to hopkins, a certified atg, and sergio martinez, a top p4p fighter, who was his kryptonite style wise. BIG DEAL. the biggest blow to kelly's career was becoming an alcoholic. kelly pavlik was and will continue to be a great guy and exciting warrior. why would anyone be happy to see his "hype" end?
A mere Con and Victor Ortreez. Also I wouldn't say Pac's hype has ended but it has been nice to finally see it decreasing.
I wasn't big into boxing at the time he was fighting, but I have watched a good few of his fights and some of the build up to those fights and I can see why people think he is overrated in the sense that he was seen as a future ATG and the best fighter at 126 lbs ever. But it seems at the same time people now don't gave him credit for being a world class fighter (not and all time great or anything) and just say he fought one good fighter and lost, whilst ignoring the rest of his career. Not saying that is you by the way. But it seems now that he is either underrated or overrated with very few people rating him in between.
Your a sad sad man. I didnt want them boycotted. I have no ill feelings towards them, unlike you I dont hate people I dont know. I was satisfied to see there fans and the media stop building them up to be better than they are
