It's amazing the ridiculous conspiracy theories boxing fans fall for.

Yeah guys, Broner wanted to give up six figures of his payday all to be hated. Awesome, great theory guys, you nailed it. And let me guess, the Illuminati is monitoring your google searches too.

if anybody was following him on twitter, he was tweeting pics of the junk food he was eating way before the weigh-in. oh, yeah, this was planned.

Biggest expense for any successful company is it's marketing department. That 200K that went to Escobedo is just seed money.

There are less risky ways to get attention. He probably knew within the past few weeks that he might not make weight, but I sincerely doubt he planned it. Sometimes it's hard to separate the fact and the promotion, but this one just wouldn't make any sense.

That's nothing compared to what he will get in return if he keeps going on like this. Sometimes you have to loose to gain. you know that

I think it was a fine plus a modification of the contract to be paid more. The rumor is that his purse was doubled which must have come from Broner.

Well Broner's purse was only $300k to begin with so I seriously doubt he gave up more then half of his purse. That money came out of the promoters pockets.

Honestly all this talk of Broner means nothing...other than the fact I won't ever watch his fights.

Thats all you can do in boxing, don't give fighters who are trashy your attention. ESPECIALLY when you don't like them.

Wasn't he trying to be like Floyd (vs Marquez)?

Broner gave up six figures to Escobedo to make the fight happen. When all was said and done Escobedo doubled his purse.

i think he could not make that weight anymore and instead of killing himself trying to he said **** it. loss the straps and pay the fines and escobedo gets double his pay as well. so after all that its on to bigger and better fighters.people act like escobedo had a chance or something. he did what he was suppose to and thats show up and fight and get payed and go home. he can stay at 130 and fight for the belts again and broner is moving up again get
    the **** over it.

Broner doesnt have to pull a weight stunt to gain publicity. He just didnt wanna struggle to make weight. Much like Mayweather didnt want to make weight vs Marquez. Its just more convenient for them. Ur not gonna tell me that hard workng naturally gifted and extremely well conditioned guys like Mayweather and Broner cant drop an extra 2 or 3 lbs. They'd rather say hey why kill myself to make the weight when i can stay comfortable. I think its unprofessional but hey no biggy. They outclassed their opponents in those fights anyway, i dont see 2 lbs making a huge difference.
