Who would have won a fight between Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe in the fall of 1991?

I don't know, but they'd have both attracted a completely bat**** event that we'd never have stopped referencing.

"This thread is like that time Bowe sat on Tyson's head and Tyson bit through his own mouthpiece to draw blood from his anus." Stuff like that. Or "It's like that giant penguin guy from Tyson/Bowe with the squirt gun and the cabbage."

Riddick was a monster in his short prime, but I'm thinking Tyson by KO.

I think Tyson would stop him somewhere around 8 or 9. It would be a bit challenging, kind of like the Ruddock fights.

Bowe might have had a great jab (when he chose to use it), but that's the thing; rather than consistently use his height and jab to box from the outside, he liked to use it to close the distance and set up his overhand right before he moved inside and brawled with an opponent at close range to beat them down with his short hooks and uppercuts, as well as wear them down with his size.

Bowe could beat Tyson if he committed to boxing and moving for the whole fight, but knowing Bowe, he'd take the fight to Tyson and pay for it. Tyson by KO8 in a vicious war.

the weigh-in would of been fun, imagine if Bowe punched Tyson like he sucker-punched Donald

You obviously haven't seen very much of Bowe during his peak years and are failing to factor in the landscape of the HW division in '91. Tyson had already lost to Douglas and gone through two wars with Ruddock. Mike had also lost that aura of invincibility that is so important for elite athletes and that was no doubt a weapon for him in his prime. Safe to say that Bowe would not be intimidated and would dominate the second half of the fight en route to a wide decision.

You can see Bowe at the start of the video. this was the Tyson/Ruddock weigh in

0:10 you can hear Bowe/Newman shout at Tyson and Tyson gives them the handsignal

After their 2 fights Ruddock & Tyson were never the same, it took a lot out of both guys.

91 Bowe would wear down & beat up 91 Tyson in a brutal war.

It all depends on what Bowe shows up. if Bowe shows up to box carefully and use his jab etc, then Mikes in for a long night.

If Bowe comes in all macho and tried to brawl with Tyson like he did with Holyfield, then its good night Riddick Bowe.

I dont think he would have done that. Both tyson and bowe were friends, they were from the same neighbourhood of Brownsville.

Bowe mentioen dTyson as inspiration after the first Holyfield fight, he also told Mike to come home soon.

Jesse Jackson and Newman and Bowe visited Tyson in prison just before he was about to be released to organise a fight. However i think both agreed not to fight each other.

This fight MAY have happened, as both were on a collision course in 96. Tyson had won the WBC/WBA titles and Bowe had Kod Holyfield. However Holyfield upset the plans against Tyson and Bowe retired after the Golota fights. So in the end the last 2 standing were Lewis and Holyfield

I think Tyson was already only half the fighter he was, or couldve been by '91. I was a big Bowe fan and reckon he wouldve won, possibly even late TKO.
