Are boxing fans blaming the wrong people for Broner and Rios missing weight?

First this is not an excuse for either of them it was unprofessional but who put them in that position, lets take a step back.

Both Broner and Rios seem to know they were struggling to make weight but their teams booked the fights anyways.

Why are these young fighters team scheduling fights at weight limits they know their fighter might not make?

When fighter are asked who they should fight next they say "ask my promoter" so why are manager and promoters setting up these fights?

Another thing while I think Broner can beat everybody at 135 pretty handily if a guy like him moves up and fights a guy not in the top 10 I think w should let it slide. This is just not meant for him but all young fighters.

We want young promising people to stay in the sport not leave. I remember when people wanted to see Chavez Jr vs Sergio when they knew Jr wasn't ready what good would that have done for the sport?

Peoples excuse would be "well Jr has Sergio's belt." I would ask what if Jr gave up the belt ? Peoples response would be they need to fight anyway Jr needs his ass kicked.

Resonsibility lies with the fighter. If you agree to a fight then you shoukd honour he weight limit. Nobody put a gun to his head and made him sign for this fight. He should have the balls to say 'no... I cant make that weight

    Good point.

But really, despite promoters and managers playing a big role in where their fighters fight, the ultimate decision/blame lays on the fighter. Even Rios will agree:

Both were champions at the weight you muppet. It's perfectly feasable to expect a fighter to make weight for a title defence. If the fighter can't make it, then he should vacate his title and declare he's moving up.

    Simple as that.
