Johnson was a pretty skilled southpaw. Although basic compared to someone who shared the same style in many aspects, Whitaker. I can mind watching Johnson outclass Billy Schwer a few years ago here in the UK. Schwer actually done reasonably well for 3 or 4 rounds, then began to evaporate under Johnson's jab and precision. He was thoroughly beaten.

As if being basic compared to Whitaker is a inherently bad thing. :huh

Indeed. Just watched it again recently. Mitchell was outspeeding him, but Stevie's chin stood the test and once his superior technique came into the equation it was game over for Sharmba.

Stevie is being overrated if anyone thinks he could have beaten Floyd. Or Shane for that matter. But for some reason, there's people who feel he could have beaten both.

A prime Stevie Johnston would have been as good a challenge as anyone Floyd has fought in his career.

Who, at the stage he fought them, was better?

For some reason people think Floyd is one the greatest fighters of all time. It's horrendous.

Johnston was a fantastic fighter. His best win was against Manfredy which put him on the P4P list at #9

Shame Johnston turned down the Mosley unification bouts (twice) during the 90s. Would have loved to have seen those. Great little fighter though and seem to fall off after the Castillo fights.

I would have picked Corrales to beat Johnston.

Stevie got hit too much on the inside to have beaten Chico.

Floyd has extreme haters on this forum, as well as extreme groupies.

His groupies think he's the GOAT, and his haters would say he isn't even top 50.

He's an all time great though, which Stevie Johnston quite honestly was far from being.

Wanna put into perspective? Stevie's crowning win, and best performance was Manfredy, whom he beat 8-4 or 9-3.

The same Manfredy whom Floyd had PREVIOUSLY destroyed in 2.

Stevie wasn't in Floyd's class. And to say that isn't being biased for Floyd, its simply stating the truth.

He isn't top 50 and that's not because I'm a hater it's because everyone else is ******ed.

Your 'putting things into perspective' is fair but means nothing about a bout between Floyd and Stevie mate :good

Stevie had less hassle with Castillo IMO. Apart from Mayweathers very modern performance in the rematch.

Stevie had less hassle with Castillo in comparison to what? A fantasy bout with Floyd?

Agreed on that, jussaying, Sweet S was asking who was as good at the time May fought them? I have to go with Castillo based on his W and draw with Stevie and subsequent fights with Floyd. :good

That's what I'm sayin': I don't think Castillo beat Johnston.
