Cordoba would give Rigo trouble again, non doubt. Cordoba adjusted well to Rigo's attacks after about 4 rounds. After the KD round Rigo tried fighting close but Cordoba was matching him there too. So Rigo did the what he had to do to win the match.
I would have been interested in the judges cards for this one.

 

i had the pleasure of watching him do his thing in the gym and spoke to him several times. they want the top fighters. back when he was at the wildcard they were talking about facing rafael marquez...and this was 2-3 yrs ago. he's been ready to face top opposition. freddie said that he learned more from rigondeaux than rigondeaux learned from him. i'm sure that would be the case with most trainers because there is nothing this kid can't do.

mares has ambitions to fight him. they've fought in the amateurs and according to mares...they were close fights. everyone wants donaire because he's ripe for the taking. abner said if he can't get donaire he wants rigo. cordoba is a step backwards. i'd much rather see him take on all the top guys because he isn't young and the clock is ticking.

 

i agree that roach was wrong for him. i think they all knew that which is why he ended up leaving. i didn't think ronnie shields was any good for him either. i don't know much about the cuban that's training him...but he's looking pretty good these days.

 

i was at that fight and i think it was a lot closer than the judges had it. nonito gets hit way too much. he loads up way too much and misses way to much as well. the filipino crowd cheered everything he did including his missed punches.

 

Why is Donaire uninterested in rematching Vasquez Jr., or Mathebula, who outlanded him? :think:rofl

Rigo easily cruised in the cordoba fight no way it was a split decision . People are just bitter it was a boring right and rightfully so because it was boring .
