I would like to judge a fight with that first person camera that was shown in the Khan vs Garcia fight. Thought that was pretty cool.
We have to ask ourselves this to begin with. "Why is it they changed this system in the first place?" It wasn't so very long ago the ref scored the fight after all. Logical answer is that it wasn't working. There must have been a **** load of complaining about it publicly, and some real bull**** going on. Putting all the power into the hands of one is always a bad idea. For instance, its always easier to buy off one judge than 3 right? And so on. Its best to let the referee do just that, and let the judges judge. Just like it's best for a stewardess to serve you drinks, not serve you drinks and fly the plane.
Quite often the Ref is the closest one to see what effect the punches are having on both fighters. I ref many fights and always know a bad judge when I see one. If the Ref is a bad judge in the first place, then you will soon discover it somewhere along the road. The Ref has to have his eyes open at all times so he is the perfect one for the job.....do it with 2 judges sitting on the outside and include the Ref in the decision making process.:good
what about giving the ref something like a veto? he can accept the judges but in case he feel the fight is fixed, he will be able to veto. the advantage by using a ref for score is that people will be able to put a face to the score and a ref will be more aware about keeping his reputation intact.
Absolutely not. I hate when there are refs whose wifes are judges at the same time like HOF Robert Byrd and Adelayde Byrd and unofficial commentators like Harold Lederman criticize judges such as Nevada's C J Ross sayin that they have much better judges such as... Julie Lederman.
