He had an inclination for being the villain even when he was still a mere prospect. With the way Floyd acts, there's simply too many restricting and limiting behavioral codes for the media's girlfriend role that he wouldn't care to live up to. SRL told people to not use drugs and was exposed himself. Then he had to go publicly apologize for using drugs in his personal life. That isn't a check that most people would want to write.
