What happened between these 2 then because before the Groves fight FW was literally threatening to publicly masturbate DeGale he loved him so much.
Then rumours last year that Degale wanted out but i never heard why?

My understanding is it's the other way around. In other words if Fwank promotes the bout, he waives the managerial %. that's how it worked when he promoted calzaghe, he only took the manager cut when he fought that mandatory abroad, i forget the opponent.

If Frank isn't putting him up for any fights can't Degale look to get his contract annulled under European legislation preventing him from working?

There's normally a minimum/maximum fight deal with a time window in any contract. DeGale also has to make reasonable concessions in agreeing to fight.

So, he couldn't reject every fight Frank offers him and then claim his time window is up.

What are your thoughts on degale just cutting his loses and taking 1 maybe 2 fights to April (nothing to tough obviously) and then becoming a free agent probabaly a cheaper alternative than inactivity and legal proceedings IMO

That'll be the best solution for all parties.

However egos will no doubt get in the way.

DeGale has a pretty sizeable ego of his own.

Because he doesn't need the money he's probably quite content to park up.

It's weird, if there's a dispute in most other sports there'll usually be some discussions between the two parties and a solution is agreed.... in boxing it seems it's different.

The promoter/manager to fighter relationship is all the wrong way... to me, the fighter appears to be an employee of the manager, who appears to be what you could call an appointed representative of the board.

I mean..... a footballer employs an agent to act in his interests (whether that's actually the case is debatable) but if he wants to sack him he's allowed to do so, whereas of a boxer wants to leave a promoter/manager, all it seems that needs to happen is the manager complain to the board and a hearing will be scheduled for about ten years time, during which time said fighter is parked up and unable to earn.

Legally, the justice system is designed to be punitive, whereas in boxing it's designed to favour the moneymen rather than those who get punched in the face - without them, there are no managers, trainers.... no sport.

Perhaps fighters ought to read the terms of the contract that their signing, or pay someone to do so. Any half baked lawyer would be able to spot restrictive clauses and put the red pen through it.

Could DeGale fight on a Goodwin card? They now have tv and I don't think Frank hates him!

You would think that would be a prerequisite for every fighter / contract / promotional company :think
