That depends on what you are offered.

A great deal (high percentage / high minimum guarantees) with a young company that is well-funded, might make more sense than a "bend over and spread 'em) contract with a top promoter.

Also, do you want to be "just another fighter" in a large stable of stars, or "the main guy" in a smaller company? Ask Amir Kahn about that one.

The trick is to have an escape clause: The promotion company must do "X, Y & Z" within a period of "X" years, or the contract is null & void. There can also be a "buy out" clause, which specifies specific terms should a larger promoter want to buy the fighter from the smaller company, with the fighter's consent. This is pretty standard stuff, if you have a decent lawyer.

I said 50 success was based largely in part of dre em and interscope meaning he got a big promotional push from the label + dre+ eminems name that's enough of a buzz to sell records. If he wouldn't of had dre produce his first album and if he would of been on an indy label, your causal listener wouldnt know who.fifty is. . U said dlh wouldn't be **** without arum.

Again look at what Floyd did before his fight with Oscar as far PPV's ..After Oscar he became a hosuehold name ..Floyd owes much of his success to Oscar no matter how much you want to deny it ! And lets not forget Cinco De Mayo ..Floyd owes some of his success to the Mexicans as well ! YA DIG

People aren't really getting it. All a promoter does is PROMOTE fighters. Biggest thing a promotional company needs is money (for, what else, promoting) avenues to promote, and sponsor. 50 already has a large financial backing, and sponsors. Based on this, he already has an advantage over TR and GBP. The only reason any fighter has a promoter is they don't have the financial backing to pay the upfront costs, or the publicity to promote their own fights. 50 likley has both of these in abundance, the other aspects on the managerial side aren't really his realm and shouldn't even be part of the conversation

Honestly the problem with boxing is that there are too many promoters !

Gamboa and Dirrell seem willing to take that risk.
You could have asked the same thing about Golden Boy a few years ago.

You poor delusional young man ..

With out that rercord breaking PPV that Oscar was involved in with Floyd, he would have never secured the record breaking garuntee in which Oscar got a piece of ! Not the garuntee but the PPV itself YA DIG !!

And Floyd owes Mexiacans and Oscar a ton of thanks because with out them he would not be as big as he is today YA DIG !!

    Shut up victims.

No one told 50 to act like a clown and try and punk Oscar. Instead of behaving like a businessman and handling his **** like a man in person with GBP reps, he goes on Twitter like a teenager and starts running his mouth.

I don't remember hating jordan, a true class act for being a successful businessman after his bball career.

Yea, we don't hate 50 because he runs his mouth and disrespects Golden Boys founder and thinks he 'runs ****' as if life was a rap video, we hate him because he's black, bingo you crying mother ****ers.

NOBODY said...."let's give Mayweather a record breaking guarantee because he fought Oscar....

WHY DIDN'T OSCAR GET A 32 MILLION DOLLAR GURANTEED??

Black Americans put boxing on the map in THIS Country....YA DIG

Broner is blowing up without having faced Oscar or Cinco de Mayo....YA DIG

Oscar has the highest single fight purse over any fighter ever.

Mexican's don't support Floyd then tell me why does he like to fight on Mexico's biggest holiday ? Must be something you know that he doesn't !

As far as Oscar owing Floyd well not really because with out Oscar Floyd would have still been drawing under 900 k ..

And no your right no one said lets give Floyd that big garuntee because he fought Oscar but with out that fight Floyd's garuntee would have been nowhere near what it is today .Like I said had he not fought OSCAR he would not have become the household name he is today! Fighting Oscar made it possible for him to generate more money ! YA DIG !

And Black Americans have helped put boxing on the main stream but im sure there were some white guys that also helped out the sweet science in the US beforfe the days of Ali and SRR ..

And Broner is blowing up as much as Lacy and Pavlik lets not go over board and because he's copying Floyd that doesn't mean thats a recipe for success ..He has to cement his legacy Right now he's a work in progress !. And one last thing last thing Oscar is worth more than Floyd and he's been retired now for how long ? Ok then ! YA DIG !!

Wow, 10 pages later and the hate is still strong.

    Mexicans are butthurt, but why?

How did Ali...Tyson...and SRL get so popular without Oscar.....Mexicans....or Cinco de Mayo???

Lacy and Pavlik never did 3.4 million views...EVER...Broner is killing them already...

Don't hide behind White fighters in the sweet science....NONE of them are as popular as Tyson..Ali or Ray Leonard..

Floyd signing a record breaking guarantee didn't have **** to do with that Cross dressing ******....

Black Americans did more to put boxing on the map than Mexicans...YA DIG.
