These 3 amigos will always be linked to one another. Ever since Pacquiao was tossed into the mix he's really been the bar as to who was greater based on their performances vs him. Marquez floundered early in his career before finally winning the lineal lightweight title and clearly beating Pacquiao in 2011 and I believe that is what bumps him ahead of Barrera, as well as beating him officially. But clearly it has to be Morales ahead of the other two, people have a hard time separating Morales and Barrera ATG-wise but it's pretty simple IMO and it's Morales handily. CLEAR wins over Pacquiao and Junior Jones who both KTFO of Barrera, and going basically 1-1-1 with Barrera is what seals it. Morales also not getting stopped in his prime should separate him. They both had solid reigns against basically identical opposition as well at 122 and 126, with the big W coming at 130 for Morales over Pac while El Terrible was already past it. :hi:
Marquez is the most complete fighter of these 3.. Heart, Power, Skills, Counter punching, combinations
Why was it 1-1-1 Morales vs Barrera? I think 2-1 for Barrera is fair. Either way, I probably favor Morales too. Really really tough to choose though. I chose Morales because what convinces me of a fighter and makes me a fan of a fighter is when he displays a great ability to take a punch.
Well personally I had the 3rd bout a draw, Morales, and Barrera the only times I've scored it. :nut Morales being able to beat Pacquiao and Jones and never being KO'd in his prime is what separates it pretty much.
For me I would go: 1 Morales 2 JMM 3 MAB But there is so little seperating the 3 of them, I wouldn't take issue with any ordering of the three.
Well you're nuts if you had it a draw cause the 3rd fight was clearly barrera hands down. I thought barrera beat morales in the first fight while i thought morales beat barrera in the rematch. Imo barrera is ahead of morales cause i hate to say it again but yeah even though barrera lost twice to pacquiao, pac unlike the morales first fight was wearing reyes gloves in both barrera fights. And not only barrera beat morales twice but he also beat undefeated, unstoppable punching power nazeem in which barrera was a heavy underdog if i remember right. So imo beating morales twice and outboxing top 5 p4p notch him over morales. I got no problem with marquez being ahead of both barrera and morales.
Morales Resume is beyond Packed compared to jmm and marco.. the question should be between the other two not Erik..
To me i agree with that order cause like i said in my last reply, barrera over morales twice and beating undefeated top 5 p4p the prince is clearly ahead of morales as the greatest mexican.
1. Marquez 2. Morales 3. Barrera I have had Marquez winning every fight save for the Mayweather one and the Norwood fight as I have never scored it. So in my book, that makes three wins over Pacquiao at 126, 130, and 144 (two of which were quite clear in my eyes), Barrera, Casamayor, two wins over Diaz, John, and a number of wins over former title holders and contenders. Then add in that this took place from featherweight to welterweight.
This makes the most sense to me. But I also have to step back and say that on this topic, I sometimes struggle to recognize what is objective admiration VS bias of personal preference. I don't really nitpick about which of the 3 are ranked above each other.
