Decent. He was able to close the distance quickly and efficiently, cut off a ring without following an opponent, didn't cross his feet, and keep his balance whether working his way inside or already there chest to chest. It wasn't overly dynamic, but for his style, it worked well.

He had excellent footwork. It did a good job of disguising the fact he could often have little or no jab,and when he when into "chest crushing" mode,it was his ability to get in there without gettin belted that made it possible.Good feet and head movement with feints as well.

His footspeed was one of his best attributes.

I don't do in depth technical posts anymore, so a few brief points.

    1. Hatton's footwork was tailored to meet two standard criteria.

1a. To close distance, a pressure fighter, Hatton had to get inside quickly. His feet allowed him to do this. It was actually his foot speed that Mayweather had the most trouble adapting to.

1b. Opening up the angles to his opponents body. People don't appreciate that footwork is just as important while infighting. Hatton used his feet to open up a path to his opponent's rib cage. Re-watch him. Steps in certain directions which had been drilled over and over. Hatton knew that if he stepped this way, then this punch was available, or if he stepped another way, that another blow became an option.

Footwork was a very under-rated dimension to Hatton's game. It's the reason I think he beats Khan, Bradley and Alexander H2H.

Was it a lack of audience?

Also, great points as usual. In his video he illustrates exactly what you're talking about.

Change in lifestyle = Lack of time buddy.

There was only about eight guys here (You included) who could hold the sort of discussion I want. Now that I do have the time, I'm exhausted! Brief and to the point, rather than drawn out technical observations. :bart

His footwork was pretty damn good for a brawler he knew how to step around and nail ya from angles, the best fight his best performances Kostya and Paulie and he ****ing out boxed out slicked and stopped Paulie, Kostya fight is under rated that was in the trenches he smothered his shots and made it his fight over all Hatton much better fighter than Khan
