How were his wins vs Liston 1, Cooper 1, and Johnson "phony"??

And please, dont trot out the tired old "Ali got five minutes between rounds" for Cooper argument, that old yarn has been disproven conclusively.

"...that old yarn has been disproven conclusively."

Oh that's right. I forgot. They disproved that right before they proved that up is down.

This genius must have watched the ESPN "revised" version of reality where they had the junior bolshevik censors at work neatly splicing the rounds together, and not one single word about anything unusual happening between the rounds. Angelo Dundee mucking about with Clay's glove and guys going out looking for a new glove all down the Orwellian Memory Hole!

I gotta get outa here. This place is like the twilight zone for f'ing ******s.

I suggest you watch the original kinescope of the first bout between Ali and Cooper.

While you are watching do us all a favor and time the rest periods and let us know how long each one ran.

At least do us all a favor and toe the line with all the other Brits who once their favorite myth was proven wrong they started harping on smelling salts.

He got a rematch to prove the first time was a fluke and it ended with the exact same result.

As if Henry Cooper was EVER going to beat Ali.

Yes, Dundee feeding Clay smelling salts was also illegal.

In Dundee's own words he said he observed the cut on Clay's glove early in the fight and "filed it away for future reference". He said, "how dare they accuse me of deliberately cutting his glove...I didn't cut it, I tore it."

When Clay was hurt and managed to stagger back to his corner Dundee tore the cut in the glove and then said they needed a new glove, and there was chaos in the ring, and finally no new glove could be found. It is unclear how much time transpired between those rounds because it seems that all the existing tapes have been doctored, like the deliberately deceptive one I saw on ESPN Classic. I saw the original years ago and I remember the chaos. I think that about 5 or 6 minutes transpired between the rounds, but even if it was only one additional second the record books need to be changed because no place in the rules does it make provisions for a hurt fighter to get any extra time between rounds, nor be given an illegal stimulant between rounds, nor have his corner man blatantly cheat, even if his name is Cassius Clay aka M. Ali. Cooper won that fight. The record books need to be changed. It is yet another one of Clay's spurious wins that he won by cheating.

    Jack,

    I agree,,,,,

The fight with Alonzo Johnson, flat out pathetic scoring.

Cassius Clay ran all day in Louisville. Landed nothing, and did not make
'Lil' Alonzo Johnson take one step backward.

Had this bout been held in Alonzo's hometown, he would have won by
    a 5-3-2 Scorecard.

Alonzo Johnson was just a club fighter weighing only 189. He had lost the previous 6 of his 8 fights, but he handily beat Clay-Ali. You can see that fight on Youtube, like the Jimmy Young scam, but it's been doctored too, tho not as blatantly as they doctored the Cooper fight. What they did, at least on the Youtube version that I saw, is cut it off abruptly at the end, but I remember what came after that, and what came after that was the announcers incredulously expostulating, "They gave it to Clay!".

I forgot Jimmy Young, another one, and a blatant one at that.

Jimmy Young deserved to be crowned heavywweight champion, but the "Ali Cultiists" had the last word.

    A Little Forgotten War,

Wednesaday Night - May 8, 1974 (Nassau Coliseum - Long Island, New York)

    Jerry Quarry versus Joe Alexander

Joe Alexander, a 26 year-old New York Heavyweight.

    All of 5' 9" and 195 lbs., and with a 'spotty' record of 9-3-0 (8 KO's).

    Muscular and hard-punching, but more of a wild-swinging club-fighter.

Forgotten, is that Joe Alexander scored a 'shocking' 1st Round Knockout over
Jose Luis Garcia, one-year earlier, in May 1973.

But, that was Joe's last fight, one-year earlier.

Jerry Quarry, at 48-6-4 (29 KO's), who had last fought Earnie Shavers in December 1973,
was one-week shy of his 30th Birthday, and a month away from fighting 'Smokin' Joe Frazier.

Though at 200 lbs, the 6' 0" Jerry still looked 'paunchy'.

The Clay Cooper fight exists fairly commonly in its complete form and I hate to hurst your bubble but there is no five or six minute break between rounds.

Anything on Jerry Quarry versus Chuck Wepner.

That fight was tossed around by Teddy Brenner of Madison Square Garden for early-1974.

For something called the 'America's Heavyweight Championship'.

I dont doubt Foreman could have taken out Quarry though Id make Jerry live dog in that one.

It might have been the only fight where the guy getting knocked out {Quarry} would have landed every punch he threw. He would have been nailing Foreman even as he was going to the canvas.

Jerry Quarry didn't just go out and look to "knockout' Earnie Shavers.

It just happened that Earnie got caught with a hard, 'but not devastating' right hand to the forehead, and he was 'stunned'.
