    Greatest HW of all time

Been in some of the most exciting fights of all time

    Had an iconic look

Took a stance that many people of all ethnicities agreed

    Gave a great interview

As far as him being racist, most white people close to him will say he wasn't truly racist, he went to far sometimes but there was a lot of truth to what he said.

He was wrong to Joe Frazier though. No one can deny that. And whether people want to forgive him or not, it should be known he did publicly apologize to Frazier and always spoke favorably of him after the fighting was done.

Yes a history lesson where he'd learn about the Grebs, Robinsons, Langfords, Armstrongs, Fitzsimmons, Charles', Durans, B-Leonards, Moores, Peps, et al.

Nothing crazy about that brother, it's a legitimate position I've seen defended with the utmost logic and reason by numerous educated followers of the game.

    See commits above.
In a sense Ali is the greatest because he said he was. In another sense he's earned the right to say that. I do belive that if he didn't call himself the greatest, neather would we.
While I don't have him in my top 10 pound for pound. I do rank him #2 behind Louis as the best heavyweight ever. Ali was the best of a very strong heavyweight field.
I personaly don't think that Ali is the greatest boxer or heavyweight ever. However he is an icon. People may forget either Sugar Ray. There is no ganture that Mayweather or Pacquiao will be rembered. Rather or not you think he was the greatest. Ali will be the one person who can claim to be bigger than the sport.

Ali was a bigger **** than David Haye, a draft dodger, and a total puppet for Malcom X.

His treatment of Frazier cannot be forgiven just because he apologize later.

He didn't just cheat on his wife, he flaunted his girlfriend in public, all while claiming to be a Muslim. Can you spell "Hypocrite?"

He also routinely cheated in the ring & got away with it, (holding behind the head, etc) and was given a few VERY questionable wins.

Great fighter, though, no question about it, and an entertaining guy.

Just about undoubtedly the greatest heavyweight of all time, but I've always vehemently thought he was an utter piece of **** as a person. Has no bearing on how good of a fighter he was, but I can't stomach the man on a personal level.

You'll hear about him standing up against racism but he practiced it himself. He more or less delighted in attempting to ruin Joe Fraziers life. You really read into that situation and it will blow your mind. Frazier financially helped Ali during his exile.

Ali put on the never ending circus act against Frazier. He was an entertainer as much as a fighter. But he was a ******* about it, racist towards Frazier. Fraziers kids were abused and beat up because of it. Can't imagine the stress Frazier was under. So on and so forth.

This is without touching him beating his wife, reportedly having a kid with some random women he was with and never supporting or dealing with said situation, spouting off borderline "reptilians exist" bull**** (Interracial marriage is wrong, kill whitey) Blinding become a religious mouth piece for extreme Islam. Torturing people in the ring (Patterson)

It goes on and on. I don't care to go much farther because there are people whom have knee jerk reactions to anything said about the man. He's become one of those "untouchables" in some peoples eyes.

If he was immature and arrogant in his physical prime, he is/was serene and graceful when dealing with physical affliction in the years that followed. There's something to be said for that.

Plus he was a fantastic fighter who was involved in some of the most memorable and brutal battles in the history of the sport. Something to be said for that, too.

He certainly is an ATG boxer. One of the best ever. Obviously at that time he had the media machine around him. Great boxer though.
